Mythtv 0.28 and disecq+multi LNB's

Just ran into an annoying problem this week, when making strides in upgrading my myth 0.27 setup to 0.28. Searching on google reveals that after 1.5 years there is still no full resolution as it appears. It is now at a point where we should create a duplicate tuner for addional LNB's (connected to a disecq switch), connect it to another video source and be able to scan for channels. That seems to work.

The problems occur when you try to change channels while watching live tv. You can not switch to a channel on the other LNB while tuned in to a channel on the first. IT will simply not even try. You can however start a recording on the other LNB from the guide, as long as the tuner is free, proving that the second LND setup is indeed functional. Pulling my hair out ... has anyone gotten this working?

I just updated my Fedora 23 based MythTV system to version 0.28 and now only the channels from the primary DiSEqC satellite are working. Looking at the release notes I noticed "As noted in Major Changes, the cardinput table is no longer used. Users of LNB/DiSEqC have created multiple DVB cards for the same adapter/frontend to keep LNB/DiSEqC working..." but I'm wondering how to achieve such a setup. My attempt at setting up the same adapter/frontend multiple times ended up with returning busy errors upon backend launch. Anybody got such a setup working and has some suggestions for me?

My myth backend has started crashing daily. Recent changes are adding 2 drives and Ram. I have looked through a log file. Nothing seemed to be an error.
I am pretty lost about what to do next. Where is the recommended place for help? Or should I try to backup the database and reload the Os?

I think I am running mythbuntu 14.0.2

Hey All. I finally have my Dell r720 in my basement and I"m trying to get mythTV up and running on Debian 7.

I keep running into dependency issues that spit out errors like this

Build-Depends dependency for mythtv-dmo cannot be satisfied because candidate version of package libvpx-dev can't satisfy version requirements

has anyone else run into this?

Also, here's what I see when I run $apt-get install mythtv

Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
You might want to run 'apt-get -f install' to correct these:
The following packages have unmet dependencies:
 libvpx-dev : Depends: libvpx1 (= 1.3.0-2) but 1.3.0-3 is to be installed
mythtv : Depends: mythtv-database (>= 0.27.5-dmo4) but it is not going to be installed
Depends: mythtv-frontend (>= 0.27.5-dmo4) but it is not going to be installed
Depends: mythtv-backend (>= 0.27.5-dmo4) but it is not going to be installed
E: Unmet dependencies. Try 'apt-get -f install' with no packages (or specify a solution).

does anyone know a way to trigger the same action as pressing 'W' in the video menus does (i.e. fetch metadata for the selected item)?

I'd like to add that as the last step to an export-to-video style user job.

I have a mythbuntu backend that is accessed by a win7 HTPC running Kodi 14.2.

I am about to build (re: install os) another HTPC for TV number 2.

I have very little Linux skills.

Would you recommend

Install mythbuntu (os) then add Kodi
Install kodi ubuntu then add myth
Install plain ubuntu then add both

Maybe I can get some help from the community getting up and running with MythTv backend (0.27) and XBMC (Gotham). I configured my new MythTv backend and checked the configuration in the backends config.xml to be sure I was entering all the correct information. Everything looks correct. When I attempt to launch the cmyth (1.9.16) frontend I get the following error "No PVR clients have been started yet." The client is definitely enabled. My xbmx error log shows

22:59:28 T:3916   ERROR: AddOnLog: MythTV cmyth PVR Client: Failed to connect to backend
22:59:28 T:3916   ERROR: PVR - couldn't get the capabilities for add-on 'unknown'. Please contact the developer of this add-on: Christian Fetzer, Jean-Luc Barrière, Tonny Petersen"

I cant seem to figure out what is causing this issue and have spent many hours googling how to resolve it. Anyone out there have any ideas on what I may be missing?
