This is one of my favorite picture book. The title is "Olivia and the missing toy" by Ian Falconer. One of the reason why I chose this, it is because I read this book when I was junior high school students. I had assignment to read this picture book for my classmate in English class. My teacher and my classmate had a good opinion of assignment of our group. Because of this, they chose us to read this picture book in the welcoming party for freshmen in our junior high school. So I still clearly remember that picture book even now. The main character of this book is the pig front of the cover. Her name is Olivia. She is a selfish girl. She lives with her father, mother, little sister, little brother and her dog. One day, Olivia miss her favorite toy. In this story, she tries to find her toy in her house.

I chose "Guri and Gura". When I was a child, my mother read out it for me. I think this was my first time to have Interest in picture book. After that time, she often took me to library and gave me an opportunity to know new picture books. That is one of my good memories with her, so the picture book is most memorable one for me. Moreover, I like it's pictures. My best favorite scene is eating a large Castella with other animals in the forest. The Castella looks like very delicious because it's used stunning color, and then the book is written in hiragana, so it is very easy for children to read it by themselves. In addition to that story is exciting. At the end of story, Guri and Gura make a car by the eggshell! It was amazing for me because I couldn't express that. "Guri and Gura" has beautiful images and interesting story, so if you have opportunities to read out books, I recommend this picture book.

I will introduce my favorite picture book. This is "maisy goes to bed" written by Lucy Cousins. When I was a child, I often read this book at the kindergarten. I read this book with my teacher. I learned how to go to the bathroom, brush my teeth and change my clothes from this book. I was attracted by this book because Maisy was so cute and there are some gimmicks. So I enjoyed learning these things and understood easily. I think this is an educational book because children learn a lot of things which is important for them to live. Furthermore this book is written by Japanese and English, so children learn two languages at the same time. The illustrations are cute and simple. The relationship between illustration and text is strong so it is easy to understand the content. I think this book is useful when people raise their children. This book was made into series, so you can learn many things which is necessary for your life.

I chose this book which named "そらまめくんのベッド" the reason why I chose this,I read the book when I was in first grade in elementary school. To tell the truth, I hate reading at that time. Fortunately, our school had a reading community to young aged students once a week. I read and watched the book in the community.
This is a story about broad beans skin.
There were three different beans in the book, broad beans, green peace and peanut. Green peace and peanut asked broad beans to let them sleep in the broad beans skin for a night because it was softest bed in those three.
However, broad beans rejected the request as he wanted to monopolize his bed.
But finally he learned the importance of sharing and cooperation through some problems he faced.
I thought this book tells the importance of sharing and cooperation with friends.

My most favorite picture book is "Swimmy." I think the book is known by most of children in Japan because the book was spread over the world after the book was published in America. Also, the story has been appeared in Japanese textbooks when I was a elementary school student. Therefore, I have read the story many times. I really like the story so, I was bought the picture book by my parents. I remember the story yet. I was able to learn about a lot of things from the story. For instance, importance of friends, never give up easily, believing friends and courage. Even if your ability is low, the ability that you help each other with your friends would be huge. Because of that, I have learned that we should believe our friends also, we should help each other. I like not only the story but also the pictures. The pictures were painted by many colors. I wanna read it again!!

My special book was " Christmas of Santa". When I was 6 years old on christmas day, my parents gave me this picture book. As I opened first page1, there was message from my father and mother, furthermore Santa Claus!Although I couldn't read English, I was very moved and read it again and again. At the time, I always said to mom that I can't believe it! I can't believe it! This is present from Santa Claus!, so I remember well this book. In this book, children are able to learn importance of friendship, how to cook toast and life of people in Sweden and many things like these. The most special point of this book is that this picture book give children a lot of dream. For example, in the last page, there was letter from children in Sweden as picture showed. I thought that I could make friends with another country when I was children. In addition to this, this book said Ayakachan! many times in this story. It seemed I was in the picuture book with Santa Claus. Some day, I want to give my children picture book like that!

Today, I will introduce “Ookina Kabu”. In English, this book calls “The Giant Turnip”. This original story is written in Russia. The story is about big turnip. It was brought up by one old man. One day the old man decided to pull out of that big turnip. At first, the old man tried to pull it out by himself. But it could not do. Next, his wife helped. But the turnip does not move anything. Finally, their granddaughter and dog, cat, mouse helped them.
At last, they could pull out of it! When I was a kindergarten child, I have read this story so many times. At first time, I was impressed with this story. And I thought cooperating is so important. Reading again now, I think this story is very Japanese. Because Japanese people think collective action is essential for our life. Actually Japanese collective action is praised by around the world. This story reminds me my childhood!

This is one of my favorite picture books SANTA THROUGH THE WINDOW. I used to demand to my families to read picture books and sit on my grandma’s knees. My sister gave me some picture books when I was a junior high student though. The children, who can enjoy picture books alone, attach higher value to the paintings than the texts. With respect to this book, all the windows are cut out and themselves bring out the story’s fun. Since the Santa Claus judges the animals by glance at the windows, he give them wrong presents. He isn’t aware of it, but the readers are. For example, the Santa gave the swan brothers a striped muffler instead of the other present because he misunderstood them for zebras, but they didn’t think he mistook and be pleased with it. That made me giggle every time and I was contented at the heart-warming situation. I guess the book is made by printing. Although the color is clear, it gives us light and soft impression. The writing style and that the line is closed with noun, is also key feature and it reminds me of the Santa’s humorous personality and the well-paced story. I believe picture books grow up humans. Children will get used to reading books and be wiser. That’s why I bought a picture book for my friend’s baby.
