After the long serie of Nephilim episodes, I needed, and maybe so did you, a little light episode. Let’s say a couple random encounters and a couple songs.

While recently in Florence for a weekend, I decided that I should check the local tabletop RPG store.

After googling the area, I happened upon a very nice place called Stratagemma.

They happened to run some Dungeons & Dragons in English on that day. I didn’t met only Cassandra and Sarah, the very friendly owner and one of the regulars. I also met Valerio Amedei author of the novel “La Carne, l’Acciaio e il Vapore” and its tabletop RPG adaptation “L’Ingranaggio/The Gear“.

Have a listen to this episode and step through the doors of Stratagemma in Florence.

People in there have great Italian games and anecdotes to share.

Finally the third and final part of our multiparts episode dedicated to Nephilim, the 90s cult French contemporary occult tabletop RPG, with our guests/players Mira Manga, Willem and Robert.

Thanks to all the listerners for their feedback.

Congratulations to Moira Omahoni for winning the two tickets to the Shadows of Esteren live classic concert Adeliane at this year’s UK Games Expo with her tweet:

Esteren contest

The Rolistes Podcast is close to its SECOND birthday. This celebration should take place as part of episode 23 (or maybe 24).

Since the show is about YOU, dear Rolistes, I’d like to involve you in that celebratory episode. Here’s a little survey which I hope many of you will take part to. It’s about the first two years of the show up to episode 20 (for episode 21 onwards it will have to wait 2019).

The result of that survey will be the core of that special episode (I can’t just make episode with me as the guest each year).

https://www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/CSNSL6Q

As an extra treat, I will maybe select one of the listeners completing the survey to be herself/himself the guest of an episode of The Rolistes Podcast.

But wait! Don’t rush…

…you might want first to check this playlist of all the FMA songs played on the show before answering the survey.

Make sure to check their many excellent shows, such as the Dungeons & Dragons fantasy police procedural Lawful & Orderly.

Nephilim, is one of my all time favourite game.

I hope this episode will make you want to have a go yourself at playing those immortal beings condemned, since the fall of Atlantis, into possessing live human beings through the ages, to be trapped in random archaeological trinkets or to dissolve in the magical fields.

Thanks to the team of French tabletop publisher Multisim and the authors Frédéric Weil and Fabrice Lamidey (sorry we forgot to mention him in you discussion) for creating this universe and the ensuing hours of game we played.

Thanks also to my guest Mira Manga, Willem and Robert for joining. You were an excellent cast.

More discussion about Nephilim will be available, and the adventures of Valeria, Dahl and Eligor will continue in Episode 20 Part 2 (hopefully before the ed of the month).

Meet Bec Hill, comedian extraordinaire.

My interview with her and the rest of this episode are the result of a peculiar chain of events.

First, a couple listeners told me they were looking forward to me covering Rogue One. I hadn’t planned initially to do anything about it but I was very happy to answer that request. The options to get tickets somewhat were a bit early, and we ended booking a midnight session.

Second, July & Carlos invited us to join them  at  Quantum Leopard Comedy on that same night.

Add to that a dinner at Spitalfields, a couple encounters, including Anil of The Rusty Quill and finally, among other performances, we saw for the first time Bec Hill’s gig.

Long story short, after that show I contacted her and she was kind enough to meet for an interview.

The rest you can find out in the episode itself.

Part 4, this is the end beautiful friend, the end!

A handful more interviews before we leave for a year the #PodcastZone gathering The Rolistes Podcast, The Rusty Quill, The Formal Gamer, Dark Cleo Productions and The Wizard On The Wynd.

Fate had me cross the path of Kenneth Hite who happened to have worked on “Nephilim: Occult Roleplaying Game” (recently covered by System Mastery), a US adaptation of my favourite French game, as well as Last Unicorn Games’ Star Trek: The Next Generation Role Playing,

Then, I had the pleasure to discus with Alek a friendly fan of board games,

I recorded what should have been the episode’s final word with the folks of Dark Cleo Productions and The Formal Gamer who are in the process of releasing their own Special Dragonmeet episodes,

Then, I had to reconnect all my equipment to discuss a bit with a duo from The Wizard On The Wynd,

Finally, finally, well into the night, I got hold of two very enthusiastic Modiphius employee Lloyd & Sam suffering from a case of extremely contagious excitement towards Dragonmeet 2016

Thanks everybody for this wonderful 2016 edition of Dragonmeet.

Thanks to Chris Birch for inviting us to set up this modest #PodcastZone.

I was invited to join the show System Mastery!

System Mastery is one of the many many excellent tabletop RPG podcasts, I regularly listen to.

With each episode, one D6 at a time, System Mastery dive deep in old game books to find out what they are about and whether or not they stand the test of time.

When they asked their listeners for new games to review, I did not resist suggesting to check “Nephilim: Occult Roleplaying” an ill-fated Chaosium translation (by the way I ran at Dragonmeet into Kenneth Hite who was part of Chaosium’s team – Interview in Ep 18 Part 4) of the still very popular in the hexagon “jeu de role” Nephilim.

Not only Jef and Jon picked it up (and thrashed with great entertainment valueamong other things the Chaosium book’s suggestion that a friendly Austrian painter got possessed by a Nephilim, in the late 1920s/early 1930s, with historical catastrophic consequences) but they also I invited me to join them for a “Mea Culpa – Afterthought 50“.

No “culpa” as far as I am concerned guys.

:D

Part 3 of the Episode 18 is here!

Not as many interviews but we took our time with some awesome Dragonmeet 2016 attendants coming by the #PodcastZone gathering The Rolistes Podcast, The Rusty Quill, The Formal Gamer, Dark Cleo Productions and The Wizard On The Wynd.

First the very friendly James Wallis, author of “The Extraordinary Adventures of Baron Munchausen“, founder of Hogshead Publishing (without it there would be NO tabletop RPG in the UK today) and former organiser of Dragonmeet, talked to us about the new “Paranoia” he developed,
We meet again with our good friends from The Role play Haven including James (aka the man with a door) and their new recruit Virginia,
Finally myself and Haqadosch (and a late intervention by Toto Chan) had a looong chat with the also very friendly Mattias Johnsson from Jarnringen publisher of Symbaroum.
See you for Part 4.

Here’s Part 2 of the Episode 18 dedicated to Dragonmeet 2016.

You have to recognise that, for once , I am quite consistent in the delivery of those.

Here’s a second handful of interviews with visitors of the Dragonmeet #PodcastZone gathering The Rolistes Podcast, The Rusty Quill, The Formal Gamer, Dark Cleo Productions and The Wizard On The Wynd.

- We interviewed with Anil, from The Rusty Quill, Mira an enthusiastic fan of The Rolistes Podcast (it’s really motivating to find out there are such fans out there),

- Federico Sohns, game designer of Nibiru, a science fiction tabletop role playing game of horror, adventure and lost memories, set in the interior of an indomitable and mysterious space station,

- Adam Brooks developer of RPG kitchen, tool to help people create and test new games, and play them too

- Edurya, current ruler of La Guilde des Rolistes Francophones de Londres
- Nelyhann from Agate Editions author of Shadows Of Esteren, talking not only about Dearg their new campaign book successful Kickstarter, but also “Dragons – La Tétralogie“, Agate’s take on Dungeons & Dragons 5e’s Open-Gaming License (OGL) led by Iris d’Automne.

See you for Part 3.
