Listen & review on ITunes.

After our almost traditional birthday interruption, we are back at UK Games Expo for a “Bonus” episode with the awesome Brendan Lasalle from Goodman Games.

Thanks Lee Neilson for getting me in touch with Brendan. this episode wouldn’t have happened without you.

Thanks also to the players who participated to this game session and accepted to be recorded. In the action, I completely forgot to take your names and contact details (please reach me if you read this).

We will be back in a couple week for more interviews recorded at UK Games Expo.

Again I recorded again way too much material there.

I will try to be more disciplined at the Dragonmeet #PodcastZone.

Convention episodes are cool but I am concerned to see them take close to half of the episodes of The Rolistes Podcast released within a year.

Dear Rolistes, do let me know how you feel about that.

Listen, rate or review on Podchaser, ITunes or Stitcher. You can also Download the episode.

Please consider contributing to my Patreon, making a modest donation via Paypal or even support your show at no extra cost via your purchases on DriveThru RPG.

You can also join us in person at the monthly “Le Drinks & Dices” in Central London at the end of each month.

The Rolistes Podcast is now THREE YEARS old…

Can you believe it?

Turns out I didn’t have to make any wish while blowing the candles to be blessed with two amazing guests for this small occasion.

Please meet Satine Phoenix and Ruty Rutenberg visiting us in London from California across the Pond. This happened as part of their European tour tied to their participation to the very first “D&D in a Castle“.

The duo are the creators of the very successful Dungeons & Dragons streaming shows under the “Maze Arcana” umbrella.

But there’s more…

Satine is Community Manager for the tabletop RPG overlord publisher “Wizards of the Coast” while Ruty is a screenwriter and his RPG author credits now include the brand new “Wayfinder’s Guide to Eberron” (if you pay attention to the episode you will hear him almost spill the beans).

Check this episode to hear them talk about this, their passion for The Hobby and much much much more.

…oh also if you are from anywhere in the UK, I recommend you check “Role Together“.

This new initiative by Role Play Haven is dedicated to supporting the existing RPG clubs, help open new ones ANYWHERE IN THE UK, while also supporting local charities.

See you in a few weeks when we will resume our UK Games Expo 2018 series.

Cheers,

Kalum

Here’s the second part of our series dedicated to the 2018 edition of UK Games Expo.

First me meet again with Chris Birchfrom Modiphius following the recommendation of both Jason Bulmahn  (Paizo Publishing) and Jon Lunn (Elite Dangerous RPG) in Part 1. There is much at foot at the London-based publisher/distributor with Star Trek Adventures, “Fallout: Wasteland Warfare“, “Kung Fu Panda The Board Game“, their contribution to the distribution White Wolf‘s new edition of “Vampire The Masquerade” alongside Fria Ligan, their Kickstarter campaign for “John Carter of Mars” and more;

Next, I paid a visit to Burning Gamesand congratulated Carlos GQ for the recent success of their crowdfunding campaign for “Dragons Conquer America“. The game is still to be delivered by the end of 2018, but the team has already several other projects in store with the “Corball – The Zero Gravity Sport” boardgame, the hope to see “Dragons Conquer Europe” as well as (EXCLUSIVE SCOOP by The Rolistes Podcast ) an ambitious miniature game / board game set in pre-colonial Mesoamerica;

Then, I nearly suffocated James Edward Raggi IV as he quickly gulped his iced drink to tell me about the latest publications for Lamentations of the Flame Princess, such as “Fish Fish F***ers“, and advised me on my next purchase (I opted for “Broodmother SkyFortress“);

Finally, I met Grant Howitt & Mary Hamilton (sadly briefly as friendly customers needed her for their purchase) from the UK Indie RPG League and Rowan, Rook & Decard. They recommended a pleathora of indie games including “Spire“, “Jason Statham’s Big Vacation“,  “Legacy: Life Among the Ruins 2nd Edition“,  “Pigsmoke: A Roleplaying Game of Sorcerous Academia” and “Lovecraftesque“.

If things go according to plans, The Rolistes Pdocast will be back in a couple weeks with a Bonus Actual Play episode of Dungeon Crawl Classics recorded at with Brendan Lasalle as the game master.

Listen, rate or review on Podchaser, ITunes or Stitcher. You can also Download the episode.

The Rolistes is back in Birmingham’s NEC for a second series of episodes dedicated to the https://www.ukgamesexpo.co.uk/.

As a reminder, this follows last year’s series dedicated to this event which was made possible thanks to the support of  Rolistes via https://www.patreon.com/RolistesPod.

I wanted to record less this year…

…and I miserably failed as I recorded not only 3 hours of interviews but also 3 hours of Actual Play which I now need to edit and release as fast as possible.

Let me know what you think but I am concerned by the proportion of episodes taken each season by https://www.ukgamesexpo.co.uk/ and http://www.dragonmeet.co.uk/.

Your feedback on the subject would be much welcomed.

Anyway, for this first part please meet:

A power-duo from http://paizo.com/ formed by http://paizo.com/people/AmandaHamonKunz (managing developer for http://paizo.com/store/starfinder/rulebooks) & http://paizo.com/people/JasonBulmahn(director of game design)

Jon Lunn, publisher of https://www.drivethrurpg.com/browse.php?keywords=elite+dangerous&x=0&y=0&author=&artist=&pfrom=&pto=&affiliate_id=1289000

Stay tuned for even more interviews in a week or two in the second part of our https://www.ukgamesexpo.co.uk/ series.

There and back again…

People come and go in London and we are happy to have François, our coffee roasting “One Ring” lore master, back among us. He is back after many adventures including a travel around the world with Anais (another tabletop RPG fan we miss) as documented in their Nays & Fox Travel Journal.

Meanwhile, while Persephelia was having her baby shower, we banded together with Haqadosch, Simon & Carlos to engage in much more macho activity.

Haqadosch popped open his “Lone Wolf Adventure Game” boxset by Cubicle 7 and we took on the green mantle of three brave Kai Lords, Brightshield, Nightfox and Moonblade, on their first mission.

I personally apologise, to Joe Joe Dever and to the devoted fans of Lone Wold series, for what followed.

The Rolistes Podcast is a proud member of The RPG Academy Network which took collectively part to the recent Podcast of Foes event for Wizards of the Coast with contributions by Redemption, The Broadswords,  Lawful & Orderly, Return to Greyhawk, Shadow of the Cabal, and of course the eponymous RPG Academy(which included myself as Seelance the rogue-warlock with a thick exotic accent).

Welcome to the second episode of “Film Studies”, the bonus series brought to you by The RPG Academy Network.

In Film Studies, members of the Network, sometimes joined by non-Network guests, will review a film and discuss ways it could inspire tabletop RPG adventures, characters or practices.

This time Dakota from “Shadow of the Cabal“ heads the class to introduce you to the 1998 “Armour of God II / Operation Condor” from one his favourite Martial-art legend actor and director Jackie Chan.

Our competent academic team is completed by Amelia, from Shadow of the Cabal and “Character Creation Cast”, as well as Kalum from ”The Rolistes Podcast”.

As discussed, we recommend you check the excellent video “Jackie Chan – How to Do Action Comedy” by Every Frame a Painting.

Tabletop RPG settings systems and setting mentioned included: “Feng Shui 2” at Atlas Games both by Robin D Law, “Overkill: The Action Movie Roleplaying Game” by Joseph Barber, “Action Movie World” by Ian Williams for Flatland Games, “GURPS” (ah ah ah Tanner shout out) and “Wushu” by Daniel Bayn.

The next film to be the subject of our class will be Jonathan Lynn‘s 1985 “Clue”. Let us know ahead of the recording about if this one inspired you some tabletop RPG adventures and maybe we will discuss it on the show.

This new series is still in its early stages and we are still fiddling with the format.

Please send us your feedback so we can fine tune it for your enjoyment, to tell us about your own experience with the movies discussed or even suggest films you would like us to cover in future episodes.

If you’d like to purchase a copy of the movie we discuss AND support our show you an use our Amazon.com affiliate link. You can even do so with tabletop RPG purchases via our DriveThru affiliate link.

Don’t believe the mainstream media, the internet can be a great place.

Not only you find excellent podcast shows (wink, wink, follow me, follow me?) but you can also engage with friendly tabletop RPG fans from across the world.

For this episode, meet Kat P. who came all the way from Austria (the country of “The Sound of Music” and “Sissi, Young Empress”) to visit us in London and tell us about her  experience as a Critter.

We also went to see Black Panther with Garry Harper enthusiastic supporter of The Rolistes Podcast since the very first days, founder of The Role Play Haven and happy employee of Modiphius.

The Rolistes Podcast is a proud member of The RPG Academy Network. Make sure to check their many excellent shows including Shadow of the Cabalwhich recently released the finale of their Legend of the Five Rings campaign.

Here’s the very first episode of “Film Studies” a new bonus show by The RPG Academy.

In Film Studies, members of the The RPG Academy Network, along with guests who may not be from the network will review a film and discuss ways it could help inform RPG sessions or plots.

For this inaugural episode, Kalum from The Rolistes Podcast was joined by Tanner and Dakota of the Shadow of the Cabal podcast and special guest Camille from Demipia The Third Age as they watched Brotherhood of the Wolf.

This being the first episode we are still playing around with the format of the show and we would be thankful to receive your feedback.

We hope you enjoy this series. If so, please reach out and suggest other movies you’d like us to discuss.

If you’d like to purchase a copy of the movie we discuss AND support our show you an use The RPG Academy’s  Amazon.com affiliate link.
