This is aweseome and thought I could post it.

I periodically try to share things that I’m reading that are having an impact on me…this is one of those. Nicole Smart has written a great article. Here are just some of the highlights….make sure you check out the […] The post 29 Leadership Qualities you Should Have Before Hitting your Thirties appeared first on Dr. John A. Death In Colorado Airport in 75 Minute increments
I read this and thought I could post it.

I have just had my 8th flight delay in 3 days. But the funny thing is the way they do the delays, they seem to be in 75 minute increments. They get you into the airport THEN tell you there is a delay, but the delay is only really 75 minutes. So, it is not […] The post Death In Colorado Airport in 75 Minute increments appeared first on Dr. John A. King . #lifeasleaders #givethemavoice

5 Simple keys to Managing Stress.

The effects/side effects/after effects of sexual abuse are numerous, we know that, even if we have never experienced abuse of this nature or studied it out, we can at least give mental assent to or acknowledge that it would have a profound impact. Carol Boulaware summaries the Major Long-Term Psychological Symptoms of Sexual Abuse as:

Panic Attacks
Low self-esteem
Stress disorders - PTSD
Personality disorders
Substance abuse
Self-abuse behaviors

Not trying to be over simplistic, but we can summaries that in a single word. STRESS.

I once heard Dr John King define stress as:

Threats to

I recently read an article by the American Psychological Association, that I found very helpful, primarily due to the simplicity, it was entitled: Five Tips to Help Manage Stress

The article starts by stating:

Stress occurs when you perceive that demands placed on you — such as work, school or relationships — exceed your ability to cope. Some stress can be beneficial at times, producing a boost that provides the drive and energy to help people get through situations like exams or work deadlines. However, an extreme amount of stress can have health consequences, affecting the immune, cardiovascular and neuroendocrine and central nervous systems, and take a severe emotional toll.

It goes on and gives what the APA calls'healthy techniques'to help reduce stress in the short and long term:

TAKE a break from the stressor. It may seem difficult to get away from a big work project, a crying baby or a growing credit card bill.
EXERCISE. The research keeps growing — exercise benefits your mind just as well as your body. We keep hearing about the long-term benefits of a regular exercise routine.
SMILE AND LAUGH.Our brains are interconnected with our emotions and facial expressions. When people are stressed, they often hold lots of the stress in their face. So laughs or smiles can help relieve some of that tension and improve the situation.
GET SOCIAL SUPPORT. Call a friend, send an email. When you share your concerns or feelings with another person, it does help relieve stress.
MEDITATE. Meditation and mindful prayer help the mind and body to relax and focus. Mindfulness can help people see new perspectives, develop self-compassion and forgiveness. When practicing a form of mindfulness, people can release emotions that might have been causing the body physical stress. Much like exercise, research has shown that even meditating briefly can reap immediate benefits.

Happy Valentines Day 2016.

Sex is a conversation. It’s the language of love spoken between best friends. We know what it is like to have those occurrences of deep and intimate connection. Times in which nothing and everything is said. It may be a quicky before the small children wake up, raunchy rough playtime after WAAYY to many drinks, smooth and unhurried for several hours on a Sunday morning or a  picnic table after a long walk at midnight! What ever, where ever, what was communicate went beyond words.Communication is the foundation for everything in life. Corrupt communication produces corrupt and bankrupted relationships. Sex is the glue of any married relationship. For sex to be good there needs to be mutual respect, trust, honesty, openness and willingness. Why not plan to start a fresh conversation today?
