This is Mom's Swim Dress- we used a currant Buttreick  swim-dress pattern (added a little flair below the waist & raised the back a little), and we copied a pair of good fitting leggings (and inserted elastic at the side of the knee to add interest).  We did not do the lining the pattern called for- we just cut a short bodice and applied elastic, to make a attached under bra- worked really well, and is very flattering!  I hand basted the bra to the dress, and applied the elastic to the arm & neck openings following instructions found on YouTube. ( and cut the elastic 1" short of the exact opening, forcing the fabric to "gather up a bit" to protect against gape in the front bodice & lower front arm openings. =)  these 2 suits are my first attempt at swim wear.  =)

I have a question. If you were making a dress that was somewhat fitted in bodice, but with full skirt and elastic waist, would you make a full muslin or just a bodice muslin?  I mean, obviously, waist will fit since it is elastic and skirt is practically a circle, so no worries there. Just wondering what you all would do.
