The Needle Galaxy, or NGC 4565, is an edge-on spiral galaxy in the constellation Coma Berenices. This is a 10-minute stacked image using 15-second subs at ISO 5000. Equipment included a Canon 6D, Antares Focal Reducer and Meade 12” LX90 telescope. I will hopefully add additional data to this as time permits, it is a beauty. Burnham calls it, “The largest of the edgewise spiral galaxies, and undoubtedly the most famous object of its type” (Robert J. Burnham Jr., Burnham’s Celestial Handbook, Volume 2, Chamaeleon Through Orion).
