WORLD FAIR TRADE DAY

WFTD is the largest Fair Trade event of the year in N. America, and events take place May 4-19 in 2013. Around 100,000 people attend hundreds of celebrations to promote Fair Trade and campaign for trade justice together with farmers & artisans. WFTD itself falls on May 11. FAIR EARTH

Holly Elzinga, representing Fair Earth, presented in our Global Cafe event on fair trade, FAIR EARTH is a socially conscious and earth-friendly company that produces and markets high quality FAIR TRADE merchandise from East Africa. Our designs blend contemporary style with ethnic flair, and are produced by local artisans with sustainable local materials. MAYA WORKS

Sarah Cunnungham is an alumna of the International Public Service (IPS) graduate program. Sarah exemplifies those skills and quality needed to accompany fair trade processes for empowerment, cultural integrity and sustainable development in the Global South. She has been quite active in the mission and fair trade relations at MayaWorks. More recently she has been helping CCI Green Heart to bring fair trade dignity practices and relational values to their mission of intercultural exchanges and wholesale activities. FAIR WORLD PROJECT

Fair World Project was launched by the Organic Consumers Association (OCA) in 2010 to promote fair trade in commerce, especially in organic production systems, and to protect the term “fair trade” from dilution and misuse for mere PR purposes, as conscious consumers expand the market for fairly traded products.
