Merry Christmas! We will be taking a week off from chat but will resume chat on January 2, 2016. Also, I would love to start back up our monthly video get togethers. Google changed their Google Hangout policy for Communities so we need to find another platform. Suggestions?

Also, our chat calendar is open for moderators!

On Tuesday, the Feast of the Immaculate Conception, we opened our holy door at Christ the King School in Nashville, TN. Our Principal, Mrs. Sherry Woodman, explained how the door opens to reveal Jesus Christ, the Face of Mercy, and how we are challenged to share God's mercy with those we encounter in the corporal and spiritual works of mercy during this Jubilee year.

Last month it was Histiocytosis Awareness Month, so I'd thought I'd share with everyone my connection to that.  In July, a worrisome spot was found on my right pelvis after having an MRI for lower back pain. After a biopsy, bone cancer was ruled out thankfully, but I was diagnosed with histiocytosis (LCH). It’s a rare cancer more common in children, about 1 in 200,000. For adults it’s more like 1 or 2 per million. (As I told my husband, I always knew I was special and now I have the pathology report to prove it.)

After a multitude of tests and lots of prayers, I learned I only have a single lesion. So on Monday afternoon I am having surgery to remove it along with steroid injections at the site. If all goes well, then no radiation or chemo and I hopefully can be listed as in remission. If there are remaining cells or a reoccurrence of a lesion somewhere else, then those two options are back on the table. I remain optimistic that won’t be the case.

I don't usually share a lot of personal info on social media, but I wanted to take this opportunity to bring awareness to this orphan disease. For the children it affects, it is much more serious and life-threatening. Please take a minute to learn more about it at https://www.histio.org/ and maybe even consider a donation to the Histiocytosis Association or another type of cancer research. If sharing my personal story can help another, then it’s worth putting it out there.

Any and all prayers are always welcomed and appreciated.
