Something new on ghost referrer, and quite clever. A pity it looks like it didn't work.

The IS_MOBILE and IS_TABLET filters are now officially sunset from the Management API. Use DEVICE_CATEGORY==mobile/tablet instead.

+Matt Gaskey Let's compare apples to apples, so, what users usually would search for if they are using some product? For Excel let's try "excel formula" and "excel to pdf":

or "word to pdf":

This is known as analysis paralysis. In this article we present an easy to follow 6 step framework to overcome this increasingly common problem with a structured analytical approach and the incredible data visualization tool - Tableau. This will empower you to generate a solid ROAI...

As +Spela Kregar  from Google suggested I am sharing my comment within this community regarding +Avinash Kaushik’s Digital analytics definition in order to get the attention of relevant people. From my point of view the definition is not accurate enough and it should be improved.

Feel free to agree or disagree, discuss, suggest, etc. I would like to hear your opinions on this matter.
Nikola Čulić originally shared to Blog:

I’m afraid that there is a problem with the accuracy of +Avinash Kaushik’s definition.

Digital analytics is more than +Avinash Kaushik’s definition. Digital analytics is not just related to business, as the definition suggest. There are a lot of other important areas which need digital analytics, such as: institutions, sciences, cultural and religious organizations, etc. These are not related to business and they need and use digital analytics.

+Avinash Kaushik also presumes that the final goal of digital analysis is a customer’s experience. The truth is that the purpose of any business is to create customers (Peter Drucker). Customer’s experience is surely important, however digital analytics can help business to create customers in many other ways. Improving customer’s experience is just one of the ways. The definition considers only that one.

Moreover, it is not just you, your customers and your competition who affect your business performance. Digital analytics analyzes all other factors which influence your data. For example, if an important website publishes articles about your business (BBC, CNN, etc.), which is a very important signal that has to be considered and analyzed, and probably, you will make changes to comply with this signal and optimize your business. The analyzed factors do not come from the competitors, or from your activity as +Avinash Kaushik suggests, but it comes from various sources and it has to be measured by Digital analytics.

Having mentioned all the above, I will try to expand +Avinash Kaushik’s definition.

Digital analytics is the analysis of qualitative and quantitative data from online activities (both the ones you can control and the ones you cannot) to drive continual improvement of all the analyzed factors in order to translate them to desired outcomes (both online and offline).

I would encourage you to make a comment, agree or disagree, to alter this definition in order to be less confusing. Furthermore, I would like English native speakers to improve the definition’s structure if necessary. +Avinash Kaushik has established a very good base, yet, it still needs upgrading.

Yes, indeed, +André Mafei is absolutely right. Almost all conversations with Google happen under the "cone of silence" and even our estimed fellow community moderators who work for Google typically won't comment... although they do contribute in other significant ways, like passing along some messages internally :)

Tremendous post by +Simo Ahava .

Rule of Data Passivity
"With the Rule of Data Passivity, I maintain that data itself does nothing. It beats nothing. It tells nothing. It shows nothing. Data is not an active agent: it’s a passive medium."

Rule of Data Subjectivity
"Data quality is directly proportional to how well the data collection mechanism is understood."

Rule of Data Scarcity
"The rule of data scarcity thus dictates that data will always be incomplete, and an arbitrary line has to be drawn somewhere in the data collection mechanism."

Meaningful data
"What meaningful means is something that must be negotiated uniquely for each business case, each project, each product, each organization, and each platform."

If you use Google Analytics for reporting you probably find the standard headings and labels don't exactly match the same words you use in your day to day work. This might make sharing data and reports harder. Use the Relabelling Machine to modify any Google Analytics report quickly and easily so they clearly represent the data as you want to describe it.
