New report in PNAS Journal - Ocean carbon sinking by plankton is confirmed as the most powerful force of Nature controlling global CO2, ocean warming via plankton cooling, and climate change! Tragically ocean plankton collapse is upon us, but is reversible if we act to restore oceans to health and abundance. http://russgeorge.net/2016/07/25/huge-ocean-carbon-biologic-capture-and-storage/
Ocean carbon capture and sequestration by marine plankton confirmed as most powerful force of Nature, able to readily manage our CO2 and climate crisis

World Bank tuna plan just released reads like an old Hollywood western movie where the open range cattlemen and buffalo hunters are the heros and the shepherds and farmers are the bad guys... give me a break http://russgeorge.net/2016/05/12/world-bank-tuna-plan-blindly-focuses-catch-forgets-habitat/
World Bank South Pacific tuna plan reveals 25 year governance change sustaining industry status quo while ignoring critical tuna pasture peril and promise

Ocean plankton is incredibly resilient and is shown in a new report in the Journal Nature. It is able to re-seed itself around the world in as little as 10 years. Tragically though the havoc wrought by our CO2 that is turning oceans into ever bluer deserts is overwhelming the phytoplankton, you know the plant-life responsible for making 85% of the oxygen you breathe - the true lungs of the earth. In each 5 year span an amount of ocean photosynthesis is lost equal to the loss of an entire Amazon Rainforest! We have the means to help. http://russgeorge.net/2016/05/06/lungs-of-earth-shrivel-under-our-co2-abuse-nd-neglect/
Ocean phytoplankton are the real lungs of earth, as they disappear our oceans are becoming ever bluer deserts no longer able to supply our oxygen

CO2 is already creating havoc in paradise. Fiji's ocean pastures have collapsed and the fish are gone. Those pastures can be sustainably restored by helping nature repurpose millions of tons of death dealing CO2 into life and fish. Just one of the countless Fijian tuna boats now in mothballs because the fish are gone can sustainably restore and revive Fiji's ocean pastures and bring back their fish - Bring back Fiji's Fish http://russgeorge.net/2016/04/16/fijian-ocean-pastures-troubled-waters/
Fiji's fish are in a terrible collapse as once vital ocean pastures become blue deserts while overfishing catches the last of the dwindling fish

Take 60 seconds to understand 6000 words about shrinking fish in the oceans and how to save them.. http://russgeorge.net/2016/02/07/wild-fish-shrinking-six-pictures-worth-6000-words/
In 60 seconds you will understand what 6000 words might teach about the tragedy and remedy for our fish shrinking in all the Seven Seas.

Today is #worldoceanday and it is a special day, but it is during the night in the ocean when the greatest migration on earth occurs, here's my account of bearing witness to the wonder of the nightly rise of zooplankton http://russgeorge.net/2013/03/25/feeding-the-greatest-migration-on-earth/
Work to restore a large ocean eddy in the NE Pacific has revived life in this vital ocean pasture feeding the greatest migration on earth, the zooplankton

Tuna managers in the Indian Ocean are calling for dramatic reductions in catch as prized Yellowfin tuna are facing starvation on once thriving ocean pastures that are becoming ever bluer ocean deserts. We must restore our ocean pastures. http://russgeorge.net/2016/05/11/seychelles-yellowfin-tuna-facing-ocean-pasture-peril/
Indian Ocean Tuna Commission calls for 20% reduction in catch of prized Seychelles Yellowfin tuna as ocean tuna pasture is rapidly becoming a blue desert

A new paper came out in the journal Nature, it is getting lots of ink today in the world media. Of course the authors neglected to speak of the problems of 'global greening' or to the solution to the great damage wrought upon our oceans by this CO2 enhanced global greening. I have not missed that point in my report on the news and offering the solution.

As the Earth greens new ground cover starves the oceans to death as a decades long drought of vital mineral rich 'dust-fall' turns oceans into blue deserts

If fish have a heaven this might be the place. Your heart will be bolstered by this video which offers some taste of nirvana... krill beneath the ice... stunning images of a world that could be on the ice moons of Jupiter but is much closer.. Sadly all is not well in the beautiful world of krill http://russgeorge.net/2016/02/09/mystery-of-krill-beneath-the-ice-revealed/
You'll not be disappointed in the time to experience the cathedral of light where krill live beneath Antarctic sea ice, do it now before the krill are gone.
