Several years ago I was riding along with one of my friends which he was a semi driver and I always had a slight interest in at least going along one time to see what a day in the life was like for a truck driver or more specifically my buddy's routine. And so we headed out for the center of the state of Illinois. On that particular day there was severe storms firing up all along the the surrounding counties where we was.It was intense! So anyway we reach our destination and he unloads his load at the job site. And we pull out past the places front gate. And park for a minute to take a brake and a minute to rest his eyes from driving. And to have a quick bite to eat.Well we at that time had went in the back of the trucks cab which is partitioned off by drapes or curtains so right at the moment we couldn't see out the front window. But for some reason I had to go up to the front of the cab and when I did I see that a tornado had formed 500 maybe 600 feet in front of us!!!!I yelled at my friend to put the truck in reverse and he told me that wasn't going to happen. So we had to abandon the truck and run and seek shelter wherever we could find.I found a ditch nearby that was a good 8 ft. Deep.I didn't see where my friend ran off to having no time to look back in fear of wasting a single second thinking if I did that it could be the matter of making it or not making it in time to cover. So I get down in the ditch there was maybe 2 inches of water in there when I first jumped down in there.I punched my fists into the side of the ditch until I could fit my arms over half way to my elbows so I had a way to brace my self and hold on to for when and if the tornado started to suck me up into the sky. So now by this point the swirling winds and pounding rain was at the peak of its strength and I thought to myself any second now it's going to be right above me and I'll find out whether or not I'll live to see another day,but it never came over by me in the ditch. It shifted to the east and quickly disapated right after it formed out in front of the gate where we had parked.Remember I said when I first jumped into the ditch there was only 2inches of rain?..........Well now it was up to my nose!!!!I was either going to be sucked up in the sky or drowned in the ditch.Thank the dear and merciful Lord above neither one of those possibilities happened that day.My friend had went to the guard shack and was safe as well.So we got back in the semi which was unharmed as well and headed for home.A couple hours later only living in Indiana was finally back home.I never in my life was so happy to reach my front door and walk through it and straight towards my bed I went and lunged right into it!Kicked off my shoes crawled under the covers and crashed the hell out!!!!I was completely drained from fear and stress and over exerting myself! Many hours I was in deep sleep without once waking up until I was waking up from like 10 straight solid hours of sleep I got from that day of hell!!But I lived to see the next day that I wondered if I would see,and I was a more appreciative man that day everything at that moment seemed better and more full of meaning and greater than any day before it.And I now knew what life meant and felt coming so close to losing it.Oh how it put it all in perspective 😨.I would like to hear your tornado stories if anyone has any to share. It doesn't have to be dramatic like mine was.Just any incounter with a tornado you've experienced I would be very interested in reading about it.So please share any and all tornado stories that you may have.Ive been absolutely fascinated by tornadoes since the first time I saw one when I was 10 years old.So I can promise you I will read any tornado story anyone posts with great enthusiasm!!!!Hope to read your stories soon!
