Bullying in Japanese middle schools.... "Confessions" is an adult book set in a middle school classroom (dealing with bullying and murder - read yourself before you give to students), while "Falling Into the Dragon's Mouth" is a verse novel aimed at middle school students, where the protagonist is a Western boy going to Japanese state schools.

I love this combination. Both take a different view on the hero tale, and both are well-written, engaging stories. These would also pair well with the Harry Potter books, or any book that features a hero born into a destiny of greatness. (The rest of us are born into mundanity, usually.)
