Movie Review Monday (Tuesday Edition)

And yet again, I give you a special Tuesday edition of my movie review. Enjoy. :)

Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children (2016) - I was in the mood for some light PG-ish family fare, and this film just happened to be on our DVR. (Thanks, Anthony.) Eva Green leads the cast of this fantasy tale about magical caretakers who protect the peculiar children of the world – children who have magical abilities of their own. The story takes some wild dimensional and temporal jumps that can be hard to follow. And it employs a rather silly climactic battle scene near the end. But if you’re in the mood for some light family fare, you might find this one entertaining. I'd give it a 7 out of 10.

Turnabout (2016)

Just a mediocre crime film.

Life (2017)

Some call it an "Alien" rip-off. Haven't you seen that classic? Give this one a chance.

Movie Review Monday (Tuesday Edition)

Once again, I’ve had a packed schedule the past week. And once again, I’m giving you a special Tuesday edition of my movie review. Enjoy. :)

Suicide Squad (2016) - From DC Comics fame (or rather infamy), a varied group of villains-turned-heroes band together to prevent a much bigger baddy from destroying humanity. I’ll cut to the chase on this one. The makers of this film seemed intent on cramming as many plot events and characters as possible into one 2-hour-ish movie, making shortcuts and sacrificing coherency in the process. I do give points to the film for high quality special effects, which are always fun for me to watch. I’m sure a sizeable part of the budget was spent there. And I give extra points for Margot Robbie’s performance as Harley Quinn. I found her to be the most entertaining character, even if her character (along with all the others) was given an all-too-minimal backstory before bringing her together with the rest of the group. In the end, however, it was only a so-so film. I'd give it a 5 out of 10.
