I wanted to share this shirt with any of you with rescued pups! It's pretty cute and 80% of proceeds go towards building a shelter for homeless doggies! :)

Hey Everyone!
Macedonian Mission for Humanity is raising money to help build a shelter for homeless dogs. There's a completely FREE way that you can help! For the next 25 days, please take 5 minutes out of your day to do some searches on the goodsearch search engine. We challenge you to try to do 20 searches a day - this will add up to $5 after 25 days (you can search anything as long as it's not obviously fraudulent). It might not seem like a lot, but if we all participate, we'll be able to save these poor dogs from the upcoming cold winter months. Also, if anyone is online shopping for the holidays, please do it through goodshop - it donates a portion of your purchase without charging you anything extra. Happy Holidays!

Recycling Program Helps Feed Istanbul's Street Dogs

Great idea how to help to street dogs :)

There are about 150,000 stray dogs and cats in Istanbul, and finding food isn't easy for all of them.  But now there’s a vending machine in the city’s center that dispenses food whenever someone recycles a bottle or a can, with the deposits on them being used to buy the food.
The box itself has three openings: One at the front, more or less at eye-level, a second one for liquids below that and a third one on the right-hand side of the box near the ground. The first opening is for depositing plastic bottles or cans. A sensor recognizes whether they are recyclable or not. If they are, then a certain amount of dog food falls into a bowl in the opening on the lower right-hand side. If there is some water remaining in the bottle and the person doesn't want it anymore, it can be poured into the second opening and the liquid flows into a bowl located right next to the food.
