No battery? No problem for these folding robots
Hello all,
My lab is currently looking for a base platform for building a test autonomous vehicle. Our requirements are:
1. Electric-powered Ackermann drivetrain;
2. Drive-by-wire for steering wheel and pedals;
3. About the size of a golf cart, with at least two seats;
4. Easily hackable, preferably with open documentation.
The best match we've found so far is Robotinik's RBCar [ http://www.robotnik.eu/mobile-robots/rbcar/ ], but it's a bit too expensive for our budget. We've also looked into Renault's Twizy, but we worry it may be complicated to hack.
Does anyone know of other alternatives?

MIT’s cheetah 3 robot has been revealed at TC sessions: robotics in cambridge, massachusetts.
Previous versions have been able to run at speeds up to 14 miles an hour and to bound over objects, this model however has been designed to save lives.

I'm part of a group that is developing a open source robot for interaction with kids in children's hospitals. I have just published a 3D articulated miniature of the robot, and anyone can download it.
I hope you like, collect, share, print or tip our design! It will help our project a lot!
