In what county? You can go to the county tax assessor office, and they can print it off for you both the current, and historic plat map.

Okay, let me get this all out here.  My mother's side of the family leads to Alabama as well, at least one branch does.  If anyone can help me find information about my great great great grandparents:  Joseph (b. 1847) and Alice (1853) Silvers from Lee County, Alabama.

Any Silvers descendants out there? As they are occasionally described as mulattos, I am interested in black or white links.

Help.

I have seen some well known, well researched White families with long genealogies going back into the states.. and even into European countries. Is a lot harder researching Black families. xo

Hi, I'm new to this community and looking for my great grandfather's family...They were SMITHs and they  were supposedly from Walker county. My great grandfather's name was Samuel Lewis SMITH born around 1871 in Alabama. He died in 1945 in Nettleton, MS. He had at least 2 brothers and 1 sister. Brother's names were Henry, and "Franz"? The sister's name was Emeline. She married "a WARREN from New Jersey" is what we were always told. I have found a war death record in Marion county for a Wesley Nelson WARREN, who could be her son because the father was John WARREN and the mother was Emeline SMITH, but I'm not 100% positive though that it's her. I am trying to find out more about Sam's siblings and need info about who his parents were.

Looking for any information about the husband of Margaret Virginia Grubbs Brown. I think his name was John Marvin Brown. I've found her and four children in Talladega county 1880 census, but nothing about her husband. Any ideas where to look next would be appreciated.

Hi, I am also new to this sight.  Running into difficulties getting information on ancestors born before 1840.  On my father's side, they resided mostly in Russell County, Alabama.  Here are names of my GGG grandparents:  Albert Cook born around 1834 and Eliza Cook, born around the same time. I have a feeling that they were not born in Alabama.  I am interested in any information about these three very interwoven African American families from Hatchechubbee, Alabama:  the Jackson's (descendants/forbearers of Joe Jackson (born around 1850) and Lizzie/Elizabeh Jackson (born around 1846); the Cooks (see above) and the Perrys.

If anyone is from one from any of these families or has ideas; for instance, about accessing slave schedules, etc, I would love to hear from you.

My Great Great Grandfather was a Baptist Minister at the Okolona Church in Lawrence County, AL. I'm pretty sure his dad was Robert Speer a plantation owner in the county (records get fuzzy around the Civil War). Hearsay claims that Robert's father was Moses Spear (or Spar) from Madison, Co (circa 1816). But I'm having trouble finding paperwork to back that up. Or even definitive civil war information for Robert or the plantation. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Hello everyone ! I'am new to this forum . I've been against a brick walls for quite some time. I'm looking for any information on my great grandfather Edgar Gill born Aug 4, 1881 in Eliska (Mt.Pleasant) Monroe Alabama. Our family was told that Arthur English (white male ) from same area . I'm looking for Edgar mothers name , she was born in Coffeeville Clarke Al , which happens to be in the same county that Arthur and his wife was married in . I know the English and the Deas where slaveowners . Edgar mom was a cook for Arthur (AM English) or his father T C (Thomas) English and she was married to Gilbert Gill . I have located all the census records for Edgar (none of them living with his mother ) . I saw 2 separate wives for Gilbert Gill (Matilda Cook & Josephine) . This story is so clouded and confusing , it seems the whole town knew that Arthur was Edgar father, I don't know if I will ever find the truth out. I'm hope that someone may have a copy of Arthur English will or deed , or can look it up for me in Alabama . Im going to try to order a copy or request a search to see if there is one that exist with a connection to my great grandfather Edgar.

Have done all I can to do ancestry lookup on my roots. I have been very successful on my paternal side, going back as far as I think is believable on grandmother side, but hit a wall at paternal GGGgrandfather . He was George Walker Williams a1816-1900. He had Risdon Pitt Williams, who had Wilson Ryan Williams, who had my daddy Risdon Pitt (also), and me, Russell Ryan W. I know alot of my family is still in Baker Hill. Al area. My cousin Marshall, was sheriff of Barbour County.... The Williams, including George Walker Williams, settled Williamson, around 1830's or so, and George was born in Ga. If you know anything more about who Risdon Pitt's, or John Pitt Williams grandfather was, or who was George Walker Williams' dad? let me know.
Crazynurseguy@yahoo.com.
thank you- Russell Ryan Williams
