--  BNCO Vesak, "Buddha's Birthday," celebration, May 2nd, 4-6pm --

Dear Dharma Brothers and Sisters,

We are happy to announce that the Buddhist Network of Central Ohio will be hosting a Vesak celebration on Saturday, May 2nd from 4-6 in the afternoon at Antrim Park in Columbus - 5800 Olentangy River Rd, Columbus, OH 43085.

We will have a service celebrating the birth, enlightenment and parinirvana of Sakymuni Buddha which will include readings from several schools of Buddhism as well as walking meditation and offerings in remembrance of the child Siddhartha, the adult Buddha and the Buddha passing into Parinirvana.

After the service we’ll gather in a shelter house for a potluck; so please ask people from your sangha to bring meatless dishes to share with the greater Buddhist community in Central Ohio.

We hope that you will be able to join us.  If you or a member of your sangha would like to participate in the service please email me at glenn.gustafson@pragmaticbuddhism.org.

We will also be collecting canned goods and non-perishables at the event to donate to the Mid-Ohio Food Bank.  Please encourage your members to bring food to donate to the less fortunate as an act of compassion on this most important festival.

Thank you and Peace,

-Glenn

Welcome new Board!

In our meeting last night, the old volunteer Board elected the new volunteer Board for the Buddhist Network of Central Ohio. It now includes our previous members plus Glenn and Keith. So that means it consists of 8: myself, Christen Ireland, Keith Warren, Andi Sugiharto, Derek Keith Heyman , Ryuho Mikel Monnett, Glenn Gustafson, and John R. Josephson.

I'm excited BNCO is re-invigorated this year! I'm continuing as Secretary, but have stepped down as President and Derek has stepped into that role at least until the next meeting.

If you're interesting in getting involved in this collective project, send a note to me or any other current Board member.

May all beings be well,
-S

It worked!  g+ quieter than fb but it's better organized, I think. I'm going to try to use this to support the Buddhist Network and it's mission. We have a Board meeting tomorrow and I'd love to see BNCO continue it's organic growth - moving into the next season.
