Where did +Ingress take you today?

It took me through the mountains to test my tolerance to cold on the Scooter of Smurfy Sundering. For what, you ask? To make BAFs, of course!

After nearly becoming a Smurfsicle, I warmed up with a night climb straight up the 800' monolith, Cabezon Peak, to set up a baseline. Meanwhile, several other agents of +Ingress Resistance New Mexico were in motion, clearing blockers and getting in position to throw layers.

The plan paid off, and over 3 million MU were illuminated, a few onyx badges were awarded, and we all shared in the pride of a job well done. A few from the opposition cried spoof, but what good BAF doesn't have a few of those? Enlightened responded quickly, but not soon enough to prevent us from making a huge jump in the score. To make it even sweeter, the fields were rethrown again at the next checkpoint, closing the gap in AM02-ECHO-01!

On my climb down, I realized I probably wasn't dressed suitably to ride S3 back through the mountains in temps reminiscent of the dark side of the moon so I put out a distress call for help. Teammates in the area quickly offered me a warm bed for the night.

And that's why I love being a Smurf. To be Resistance means having your work cut out for you, but also means having a community that you can depend on.

Some good exercise this morning. ;)
Where did +Ingress take you today?

On a sunrise bike ride up a mountain to a gravure memorializing the Eagle Scout David Mitchell who first blazed this trail.

Before sunrise, local agents subtly dropped blockers and created fields in what would generally be considered normal behavior, but they were actually setting the stage for the local Resistance to deal a blow to their aggressors. Shortly after sunrise, the operation's final maneuver put a field up over the encroaching horde. This field today stands as evidence that the self-proclaimed Enlightened will not suppress us. We, the Resistance, march on!

Thanks to the agents who made this operation a shining success.

If you are interested in giving to an ongoing rescue operation - The Cajun Navy is a non-profit citizen rescue group formed by an +Ingress agent and other boat captains in Louisiana. They are involved in ongoing rescue operations related to Harvey. Read more about their formation last year: http://blog.zello.com/2016/10/10/the-cajun-navy-how-tech-and-boaters-joined-forces-to-save-lives/ and donate if you can. https://www.paypal.me/cajunnavyrelief

Where did you take +Ingress today?

800' underground, the Big Room of Carlsbad Caverns sits at 4000' long, 655' wide, and 255' high. The caverns formed 250My ago when hydrogen sulfide seeped upwards into the groundwater, creating sulfuric acid that dissolved the limestone. Since then, continuous cycles of condensation and evaporation created the stalactites and stalagmites you see.

Where did you take +Ingress today?

In 1974, David Mitchell blazed this 2.4 mile, 1500' climb to create a shorter route to Guaje Reservoir for an Eagle Scout project. In 1978, he passed away and a gravure atop Guaje Ridge commemorates him. The Mitchell Trail offers some of the most scenic views of Los Alamos and beyond, but in 2000, the Cerro Grande fire scorched most of the forest in the area.

1000 years ago, these corridors were bustling with Chacoan natives and visitors. You could come for a ceremony or conduct trade in this social and economic epicenter of the region.
