Assignment 6.2: Final Product Pitch (Finish Your Project)

Note: If you want your work to be considered for the live event, the deadline is 3/27/16, 5:00 PM UTC.

Throughout this course, you have learned about a variety of educational theories and other elements that go into designing an educational technology. Now it is time to finish your project. Of course this doesn’t mean you will have developed the actual technology - that would be a project much larger in scope than this course. What you will have is a package of materials that clearly describes what your idea is, what its merits are, and some logical backing for your claims.

In order to create your final presentation, you’ll want to take everything you’ve worked on so far and make sure it all fits together coherently. Also, you will want check that your work reflects your current ideas and understanding. Feel free to revise sections, and also to add and remove.  Key areas your final product pitch will cover:

-Why is there a need for this product?
-What will it teach (or help students learn) and how?
-Who will use it and in what context?
-What kind of impact might this product have? What about major risks?
-How will learners be assessed either within or outside of your -intervention?

Could your product help a researcher (or you acting as a researcher) shed light on a certain aspect of the educational experience? What research questions might your project prompt?

Are there some challenges you are likely to face if you choose to actually develop your product? You may choose to talk about this briefly.

Reminder: The audience for your pitch can be a potential partner/funder who might help you or an actual user (like teachers, elementary school students, parents, adult learners, etc.). No matter your audience, the goal is to convince them that this is a valuable product that should be used.

Do not worry about making a specific request for funding or explaining your overall business plan. The focus is the product itself.

For the deliverable: 
This final package of materials should reflect and encompass your previous work. It should be a combination of formats:

Video of the final version of your pitch (This will include material from Assignment 6.1, as well as material from earlier in the course): Since this is short, you will want to pick and choose what is most important to include.
Despite the brevity, make sure you don't concentrate on only one section of your project (Example: Don't spend the whole video discussing your learning challenge in depth.) at the expense of other components; we want your pitch to reflect your work in the course.

Written summary of your project: This should be more comprehensive than your pitch video. You can include more details for components like your plan for your assessment, influential models/theories, etc.

Sharing with Your Peers: We want everyone to be able understand your project. Take the time to organize and annotate links; make sure everything is accessible and that it is clear what each part is.

A reminder: You are not required to appear in the video (For instance, you may choose to provide narration for a collection of visuals.). If producing a short video is not possible due to technical limitations, create a concise visual presentation. This could be a series of images with strategic and select text explanations, a Powerpoint like presentation with notes or annotations,  or a Prezi. We want your work to be image-centric, rather than text-focused.

Guidance for Peer Feedback: 
Provide substantive feedback to at least two participants who posted just before you (their posts will be just below yours). If those participants have already received feedback, look for participants who have not received any. Follow the Peer Review Feedback guidelines and use the rubric provided.

You can communicate your feedback in the following ways: 
Download the rubric. Highlight your ratings (using yellow highlighting, bolding, underlining, etc.) and put comments in the rubric (and/or the post - Don't feel limited by the comment box.), save it to your Google docs or similar hosting website, and link the participant to it in a forum post.


Communicate your findings in the forum post only without linking to the rubric with your ratings. Indicate your feedback like: Learning Challenge = Needs work, etc. Then provide comments.

No matter how you respond, it is required that you provide comments and some explanation for your ratings.
