History Tidbit -
1898 proved to be an unfortuitous year to complete the first Pier. Built of steel and measuring 1,770 feet long and 20 feet above the tides, the Pier was severely damaged in November of that same year by an early winter storm.
March 1909 brought another damaging storm destroying "White City" at the end of the Pier and reducing the Pier to 700 feet.
The storm of February 1978 almost demolished the Pier, and a new pier was immediately planned. Today's Pier opened in June 1980.

We are directly on the beach with a beautiful view from our oceanfront patio. You walk directly onto the sand to seven miles of the most beautiful sandy beach anywhere. The downtown, the Pier, amusements and all the fun are very close, and within easy walking distance. #beachvacation #LoveMaineCoast

Hey! I am +Jeffrey Tobian  and I am the moderator of the Utah G+ network community and I wanted to share a little bit about myself and what I am hoping to do in the G+ Network. Personally, I own a carpet cleaning and flood and restoration company, +Alpine Professional Carpet Care  here is the link if you would like to check it out! http://alpineprocarpet.com/  I am from Utah, I am the owner of the Water Damage Cleanup Service Community on Google+. I just wanted to share this community so you can get information about water damage restoration. If you have questions about water damage in your home or business this group will have an answer and this way you will know how water damage & restoration companies think.
