British cavalry vs Polish cavalry
Waterloo 18 June 1815

On June 18, 1815, during the Battle of Waterloo, the British attacked with the best British elite units
- the 1st Brigade of "Household" General Edward Somerset (11 squadrons - 1319 in total)
and 2 Union brigades (9 Gen. William Ponsonby, 1332 men).
Gen. Somerset's brigade in the devastating charge smashed French cuirassiers , while General Ponsonby's brigade hit the 1st French Corps, dispersing three divisions and taking about 3,000 prisoners.
At this point Napoleon threw himself into the attack
Polish - Dutch 2nd Guard Regiment of Lancer Guards who smashed the best British elite units from surface of earth .
Sadly, for the Polish lancers, it was not a victory in the battle.
What was interesting at Waterloo , there was the death of only a few Poles - Łukasz Biernacki, Jan Nowak, Karol Pawłowski, Ignacy Rużyczko and Silvester Zeleski , Paweł Jerzmanowski himself was only wounded

Quentin Roosevelt, the US President's son, was killed in action in 1918. Back in the day when Presidential sons went to war just like normal people. The German government took a photo of the slain young man for propaganda purposes, and made it into a postcard. The German public were deeply disgusted by this, and wondered why the Kaiser's kids were safe inside the palace, while they were expected to sacrifice their sons on the battlefield. This actually dealt a critical blow to German morale in World War 1.
