With the fact that every Scandinavian wastes 50 kgs of food per year, two Miami Ad School graduates, Christoffer Åhlén and Chelsea Frangie, have suggested a solution by introducing an app where you can see what you have in your fridge - just by entering your card number.
"At Scandinavia’s biggest supermarket chain, ICA, most people swipe their supermarket card when they buy food. For many, it means getting a reduced price, but what most do not know is that every purchased product gets stored in their system", says Christoffer Åhlén.
"What happens next? Enter the next generation food-management system. Find all your inventory on your cellphone, complete with expiry dates and quantity. Get customized suggestions for recipes and alerts based on products that are set to expire. But most of all, track what you consume and what goes to waste. So, you save money, avoid long shopping lists, and manage your food effectively", says Chelsea Frangie.
And how do you know what you've eaten? Just delete them as you would delete your smartphone apps.https://vimeo.com/61700780
