Recently I across +Deepin Quite liked it.
I have installed it as my current/primary OS (Still have Ubuntu 14.04 on dual-boot)
I have been using it since the weekend - since it is based off Ubuntu 14.04 - most of the stuff works. (I am unable to use ibus-m17n for typing devnagari text, even though packages are installed, and show up in the "system tray equivalent"

Anyone else used/tried it ?

Linux and Antivirus

Do I need anti-virus ?? Isnt Linux Virus free ??

For the most part, Linux is engineered in a fashion that makes it hard for viruses to run but there are many reasons you may need a Virus scanner on your penguin box,

to scan a Windows drive in your PC
to scan a Windows-based network attached server or hard drive
to scan Windows machines over a network
to protect a Windows virtual machine from within the virtual machine
to scan files you are going to send to other people
to scan e-mail you are going to forward to other people

** some Windows viruses can run with Wine. **

Linux virus infections are theoretically possible and are sold on underground forums worldwide for around $2000.

So do you need an anti-virus??

Whonix is an operating system focused on anonymity, privacy and security. It's based on the Tor anonymity network[5], Debian GNU/Linux[6] and security by isolation. DNS leaks are impossible, and not even malware with root privileges can find out the user's real IP.

Technical  -

Looking for a co-founder in Bangalore.

Guys,
I know PLUG is not exactly the place to post for a co-founder in Bangalore but given the quality & experience of the people here, I hope this gets to the right people.

We are an early stage startup, in the field of heterogeneous computing.  We are a very experienced team and are looking at adding an additional technical co-founder.

This is an opportunity for programmers and architects with extensive experience in parallel programming and working with hardware & device drivers.  The work is very interesting and cutting-edge if you look forward to working on new algorithms - you get to work on some very interesting problems.  We are early stage and this gives you an opportunity to get some serious stakes in the Organization.

Key skills that we're looking for are:
We are looking for a senior hands-on product architect/programmer with significant experience in parallel programming, the Linux Kernel, device drivers and in developing complex parallel algorithms.  You must have deep knowledge that you have demonstrated in the past.  We bring the vision, product-management & sales experience to the table, we want you to bring programming experience.
You must be a self starter & be very persistent.  We are looking for people with product experience.  You should have been an architect at a product definition & design team in the past.  You would need to code and ideally should have contributed to the Linux kernel.
Since this is a co-founder position, you would work with other co-founders to conceptualize and architect a new product in the middleware/kernel space.  Our key expectation is to work with us (including our other technical co-founder); craft the architecture and write the initial code of the product.
An early-stage startup has its ups and downs, you must be mature enough to hang on along with us.  This is a full-time position.

Like to have: Verilog/VHDL design, development and validation experience will be really nice.

Like I said, if you are interested or know someone, please do reach me.

This is a very bad news both for PLUG and whole FOSS community. We have lost a very active FOSS enthusiast.
