There hasn't been too much activity on here recently, and that's mostly my fault, since I've been busy with various projects. I'm wondering if maybe we should change focus, perhaps try for more of a Netflix-based model or something...

It's been a while, and I've been extremely busy with writing projects, but I think December calls for a Public Domain Theater viewing of Santa Claus Conquers the Martians. Who's up to board this pain-train?

When am I down for GME!PPDT?

The general consensus seems to be that we should do a legitimately good movie for the next PDT in October, so I'm leaning toward Night of the Living Dead. I'm also wondering if Ustream would allow us to stream the commentary in a more efficient manner. I only ever tried their video options, which didn't work. Don't know how it would handle a conference call.

So, anyone have any suggestions for what movie we should do after Teenagers from Outer Space? I have my own ideas, but I doubt the audience could handle the 1-2 punch of Plan 9 from Outer Space and Manos, The Hands of Fate.

Even though the technical issues was a pain.  Once the film got rolling I had a great time with this.   Looking forward to more.  :)

The first event got off to a rocky start owing to my general incompetence and a few technical difficulties, but afterwards about 16 people got together to enjoy Carnival of Souls. Sean was eaten by slugs mid-broadcast, but Rachel and Tom stepped up to fill in for him, and a fine time was had by all. The goal now is to perfect the content delivery system, so that everyone will be able to enjoy the next time we get together to view the infamous Teenagers from Outer Space!

The Youtube broadcast seems to work okay for people that want to listen in on the commentary. Now we need a solution for the chat room. Ideally, we want something that doesn't require special software or account registration, something that people can just pop in to and join the conversation by clicking on a link that I can post. Any suggestions?

Just a reminder, tomorrow at 7PM EST is the first Public Domain Theater meeting. We'll begin the countdown to pressing play at 7, but we'll probably start broadcasting audio and chat about fifteen minutes early to make sure everything is working correctly, although I anticipate there might be a few snags. Everyone in the community should get an invite to the Google Hangout, and I'll post the Youtube live-stream link as soon as it's available. Don't forget to download a copy of Carnival of Souls from this link: http://www.archive.org/details/CarnivalofSouls
