It is times like this that I really miss Google Reader.  I hope that there is a team of commandos that will track down the scum attacking Feedly and spray them up with machine gun bullets.

Please come back Google Reader.  You are my first love, and I will take you back with no hard feelings.

Twitter has killed off their RSS feeds - this site is an attempt to provide an alternative.

Looks an easy to use alternative!

TheOldReader has called it quits. The recent multi-day outage was the last straw. See the blog posting for more information.

"We have closed user registration, and we plan to shut the public site down in two weeks. We started working on this project for ourselves and our friends, and we use The Old Reader on a daily basis, so we will launch a separate private site that will keep running. It will have faster refresh rate, more posts per feed, and properly working full-text search — we are sure that we can provide all this at a smaller scale without that much drama, just like we were doing before March.

The private site?

Accounts will be migrated to the private site automatically. We will whitelist everybody we know personally, along with all active accounts that were registered before March 13, 2013 — those are the people who had consciously signed up for The Old Reader rather than were simply looking for “a Google Reader replacement”."

Google Reader's demise levels the playing field

Now there are more competitors, more innovation, there are new platforms for distributing feeds, new interfaces. Suddenly, feed readers are a hot topic. Until now, Google Reader was the dominant service and platform, but they didn't know what to do with it.

Reader's disappearance is +Google's best idea for saving RSS. From stagnant to vibrant in 3 months. Reader's demise helped RSS more, than the last 3 years of silence.

I would love to see an overall keyword search in Feedly.
