DIAMOND CITY
Do you like night photography? For me night is a perfect time to wonder around and try to find a good location to shoot and to unwind from the day job hustle. Being able to find a remote and peaceful spot in the big city is a tough task but every now and than we get lucky. This is one of those spots where you can sit down and watch the night fall and the city lights come alive while still have some peace and quite. What do you think?

SLEEPLESS
What is your favorite shot of last year? I have a few but this one is in my top 3. It is another shot from the top of the Hard Rock Hotel here in Chicago. I was blessed with this opportunity and after a hard day of work I had a sleepless night shooting one of the Chicago’s finest vista. Big shout-out to the hotel stuff for allowing me the access to this room. So what do you think?

REAR WINDOW
Recently I had and opportunity to have access to two rooms in the Hard Rock Hotel here in Chicago. It was one of the things on my bucket list since I moved here and I’m happy that I got the chance to get the shots from this location the way I wanted. This particular view was very interesting because it reminded me of the movie Rear Window. An interesting urban living story. I opt for this frame because it showcase not just the grand city architecture but also urban living. It is almost like watching the ant farm in my opinion. It is beautiful and scary in the same time. What do you think?

AT PEACE
Any winter shots yet? I’m continuing in the same spirit with this post and showcasing the winter landscapes from my neighborhood. Again minimalistic BW shot with just a few elements to simplify the composition and emphasize the contrast in the frame. What do you think?

A number of years ago, my wife and I were on the ferry from Nova Scotia to Portland, Maine (an 11-hour trip). We found ourselves in a conversation with a group of people returning from a conference. The conference was on eastuology, and they asked us if we knew what it was. My response was "tidal flats," and they were shocked and surprised. I was the first one to get that close.

Select model with EVF and better external control, so from a6000 series. For me EVF is the only way to shoot in hard light.

WAY OF LIFE
How did you spend your holidays? I’m honoring my celebration today with this interior shot from the oldest Orthodox Cathedral here in Chicago. I went there just a few days before the celebration to avoid the crowds and get the shot with all the decoration inside the church. For those of you who are not familiar with this later Christmas celebration, Orthodox are having the celebrations 13 days later because they are following older Julian calendar. So for everyone that celebrates the Christmas today I wish you a Merry Christmas!

The building was declared unsafe after the last major earthquake (7.8) the country had about 4 weeks ago, so it has to come down ...

MECAVA
Do you like shooting winter landscapes? I personally love it! There is something really relaxing for me when I’m out surrounded with white covered nature. I’m at peace. For this post I went out during our first blizzard here in Chicago but not to shoot the city but the local forest preserve. I was among for some intimate minimalistic landscape compositions and among others I ended up with this. What do you think?
