Anyone still watching the group? Taking a break from Facebook, and decided to say hello.

I'm watching OTEC news on Google News, and not much is happening. Anyone here involved in a project they want to share?

Have 97.49 in earnings accrued in AdSense.  Should actually get a check sometime this year for the first time.  Traffic continues to climb but it is painfully slow.

As the article mentions, this is a key technology for Martian colonization. The researchers struck upon the idea of tapping the high concentrations of sulfur found on Mars, by using molten sulfur as the "resin" matrix in this concrete analog.

240C may seem pretty hot and energy intensive, but is much lower than other sintering methods, in line with solder reflow temperatures. While conventional concrete may seem easier (just add water and mix cement with aggegates), the manufacture of portland cement is also quite energy intensive. Water on Mars may be better used for other purposes.

One does have to wonder about other issues though with building with sulfur. The trace amounts of sulfur found in Chinese manufactured drywall a decade ago caused an epidemic of health issues in some parts of the US, as well as contributing to copper pipe corrosion.

Half the battle to achieving greatness is knowing that it's possible.

If this turns out to be true, it could completely change our worldview
