Local Baha'is Iain Palin from Derry and Michael Barr from Park met with the new mayor of the district Councillor Maolíosa McHugh in his official parlour in the Guildhall today.
The Baha'i representatives explained how we like to meet with new mayors, explain something about the community and its activities, and present literature. things were made a bit easier by the fact that Cllr. McHugh had some previous knowledge of the Faith and had met Baha'is. He was also aware of the persecutions in Iran and wanted to know more.
The meeting lasted almost an hour with wide-ranging discussion with the main focus on how the Baha'i community can contribute to the development of an inclusive society in the city and area.
