This looks like an interesting model for a collaborative academic project - would we be able to do something like this?

http://www.digitalme.co.uk/badges

This is a digital way of earning and creating your own badges. Their aim is to help change the way we look at qualifications and to help organisations and employers to recognise a person's skills and achievements.

I think that the projects that are run by this website will be useful to those who are interested in broadening their CVs. With the appearance of these badges being brightly coloured and cartoony, I feel that their target audience is for those who are aged 16-24.

This might be a good example of badges people can earn, however I think that the majority of users on the site (likely to be young people 16-24) aren't going to pay that much for a badge, unless it is a reasonably high qualification that is for a specific job.

The site could be improved by getting more organisations involved and making it a more prestigious thing to have, and more widely used way of finding employers, but at the moment I don't feel it's living up to it's potential.

This is an interesting Tumblr page from the creators of the badge system showing the development and learning processes going into the whole open badge system
