Koutris completed his dissertation titled “Query Processing for Massively Parallel Systems” at the University of Washington under the supervision of Dan Suciu. ACM SIGMOD is also pleased to recognize Pinar Tozun and Alvin Cheung for Honorable Mention for the 2016 SIGMOD Jim Gray Doctoral Dissertation Award.

The call for nominations for the 2016 SIGMOD Systems award is available. 
The SIGMOD Systems Award is awarded to an individual or set of individuals to recognize the development of a piece of software that made a significant technical contribution to the database management field and which was made available for others to use. The nomination deadline is April 1, 2016.
