For a year now, we in CastleStone still fight with the homeless till this day. There's been ups and downs, even set backs, but we have not faltered. I won't lie, it's been a challenge doing what we do, and it's thanks to my team. I love the team that I have, and because of them, we were able to achieve many goals. Ever since I started, life had never became so real. Involving the homeless in our cause has helped us discover the root causes. It has given us the ability to finally begin eliminating the stigma that surrounds them. We now understand what poverty had become in Canada - It isn't about financial issues, it is going unnoticed, uncared for and alone and regardless of their situation, the homeless deserve respect. The greatest step you could take now is to befriend them. They're all individuals like us, and that's the beauty of life. We're all different, and we all have a story to share. ‪#‎BeTheChange‬

Tune into my TEDx talk on June 4, tell your friends about it, because I'm going to share my story. Like my page to find out more, and please do share!

Artisans of Peace Overcoming Poverty introduces partners in peace-building whose efforts have too often remained unrecognized. Volume 2 shares stories of defending human rights in various places — in Lebanon, as Syrian refugees are welcomed; in the Philippines, as climate change displaces thousands of families; and in France, where poverty-based discrimination affects hiring, housing, and health care. This book describes how people living in poverty search for peace, go beyond violence, and build a sense of community.

People in the Moroccan fishing town of Safi demonstrate against a government plan to open new power plants. The city has already been ravaged with diseases since 1965, a date when a chemical complex was built. Residents demand an urgent evacuation of the city. No fish to catch, no clean air to breathe in Safi anymore. Read more in the link:

"Human Rights Inaccessible to Shoal Lake 40" by Jared Liimu.

"During the thin ice season, residents described crawling on their hands and knees (in order to spread out their weight, reducing the risk of collapsing through the ice) for half an hour to cross the canal – many having experienced falling through the ice and having to crawl home risking severe hypothermia."
