Dirt and Boogers wrote a good article on how to teach a #child to apologize! #Apologizing is truly a #life #skill, one that introduces the concept of eating humble pie and what it feels like to live through facing something you've done. Valuable? Let me know.

Did you know at 24-weeks in utero your baby will turn his head at the sound of a familiar voice?
This is really interesting

Honey-Rae is an 18 month old girl born with a birthmark on his leg. See what happens next.
Having large birthmarks can be hard for children, especially when they start school. Children can be such bullies sometimes. Honey-Rae is an 18 month old girl who was born with a birthmark on his leg. One day amazing, her parents, Tanya and Adam Phillips decided to do something so that their daughter doesn’t feel different because she has a birthmark. Both Tanya and Adam got tattoos on their right legs same as the birthmarks of their little toddl...

Thursday's Proactive Parenting How To Series shares an article from Hands On As We Grow
WHY CAN'T YOU BE RESPONSIBLE? is a common battle cry from parents of older kids. The kicker is teaching a child responsibility begins when they're small and expands as a child grows. 9 times out of 10 it’s not something you can expect a child to just develop on their own. Here are some good ideas to help. http://handsonaswegrow.com/parenting-is-childs-play-responsibility/

Words could not express the happiness on Glen’s face. He was thrilled to meet all those people and touch all the trucks and cars. Glen dreams came true that day.
Glen Burati is a 6 year old boy from Florida. She is diagnosed with autism and epilepsy. He and his mother planned his birthday party and invited 16 kids from his school. The day of the party, nobody showed up. His mother’s heart was broken and decided to share her sorrow on Facebook. Soon after her post on Facebook, 15 kids and parents from the neighborhood came to surprise the 6 year old Glen. They teamed up with the local firemen and police of...

Check out this idea for a simple, fun educational activity for early learners. Then stop by www.pelicanfamily.com for a peek at the colorful children's picture books from the The Pelican Family Series, written by an educator with over 30 years of experience.
My grandson and I went on a picture walk. I was the photographer, he was the director (as he often is at this age of 4). He pointed out what he wanted pictures of, I took them...

About this community

Looking for a community about pregnancy, birth and parenting? You’re in the right place. Discuss everything from pregnancy symptoms, giving birth and becoming parents. We are NCT, the UK’s largest charity for parents, supporting you and your family through the joys and challenges of the early years. For over fifty years we have listened to what parents want and need to help improve the experiences of every parent. Whether online, on the phone or out and about in local communities we are there for all parents and parents-to-be. Find out more about us at www.nct.org.uk

Are you prioritizing your own #self-care? We moms often put our self-care needs somewhere near the bottom of the priority list. However, a depleted, worn-out mom doesn't do anybody any good. Does this infographic feel familiar? :-)

Giving our selves time and attention is not selfish! Read my latest blog post here:

What’s your opinion on this subject? Do you support women’s right to expose their post-baby bodies while breastfeeding their little ones?
Jade Beall is a photographer who has been photographing women for 15 years. She had an epiphany when she took a photo of herself breast feeding her son and she decided to celebrate the beauty, flaws and vulnerabilities of all mothers. When she first posted on Facebook, one of her group portraits of mother’s breastfeeding, she came across very negative comments. She received messages mainly from men, telling her to remove that photo. Many people o...

Educating toddlers about new skills is a tough task. When you have right learning tools then thinks become pretty easy. Recently, I discovered a learning system that combines play, learning and lots of fun. So, while you intend to inculcate new skills in your toddler, he will all the while consider it as a new toy gifted to him for unlimited play.
