I just added a short German "How to add Kopano DeskApp as standard email app": http://blog.gestreift.net/dwkb/kopano-deskapp-als-standard-mailclient-einrichten/. Does one of you run another OS (e.g. Linux + KDE)? Would be cool if you could add your screenshot as well!

It is no rocket science, but anyway: Frome time to time I get asked, how to change the view of my e-mails. This includes requests like: "I want to see all headers in one line", "I want to sort by subject" or "I want to add/remove header-field X".

The button marked in the 1st screenshot allows you to switch the general view from "no preview" (just e-mail-list), "right preview" (e-mail-list and e-mail-preview next to each other, 2-line-headers in e-mail-list) or "bottom preview" (e-mail-preview below e-mail-list, 1-line-headers in e-mail-list). Sorting by subject is possible in "no preview" and "bottom preview".

The last screenshot demonstrates how to add/remove columns to the e-mail-list.

Something +Zarafa-related:

On April 11th, Microsoft has released a security update for Outlook 2013 (see KB3178716), which, in conjunction with the Zarafaclient, restricts functionality in MS Outlook 2013. So far, these limitations have not yet been fixed.

The security update adds a new feature to Outlook, which also takes the author of the email itself as a recipient when calling the "reply-to-all" function. This feature seems to be so awkwardly implemented that no MAPI provider other than the ones by Microsoft itself can handle it. Thus, calling the "reply-to-all" function after installing the patch causes a MAPI error to be displayed.

As of now it seems that the zarafaclient can not correct this. The problem exists deep in the closed-source parts of Outlook. This affects all Outlook 2013 users who install this update.

Last week I was asked again if we would not support shortkeys in DeskApp and WebApp. Well, yes, we do ;-)! Maybe you did not enable them? Please go in DeskApp or WebApp to Settings. Here you'll find the menu "shortkeys" in the left menu. This menu allows you to switch them off, on or just enable a basic set of shortkeys. The basic-option is important in case of any conflicts with shortkeys of your OS or browser.

In this menu you also find a complete list of all shortkeys Kopano DeskApp/WebApp supports.

+Felix Kronlage wrote about Kopano DeskApp autodiscovery in his blog: https://blog.bytemine.net/2017/04/20/kopano-deskapp-autodiscovery/ ... Did you already know about this?

From time to time I'm asked, how to copy appointments in WebApp and DeskApp. You only need to mark the appointment you want to copy by clicking on it with the left mouse-button. There is a button in the upper right side of your WebApp/DeskApp next to the trash-symbol. It opens the copy/move-dialog, where your Calendar-folder is pre-selected. So just click the "copy"-button and your appointments gets duplicated.

Again and again I'm asked, what Kopano Files is doing. After some thinking and while playing Lego with my son I found a nice way to sketch this ;-):

Files are stored in all kind of different backends (Windows Shares, DMS, ownCloud, nextcloud, ...) and addressed by some defined protocols (CIFS, WebDAV, FTP, ...). This is shown as the equaly colored bricks on the right side. Kopano Files includes several drivers to access the given backends via the defined protocols. This is done by the Lego-men with beard. The colored wall of bricks is the view the Kopano Files user (Lego guy on the very left side) gets. So Kopano Files is "just" an extensible client to access your existing files-source.

I wrote two German blog-posts about it. So if you want to read more, just visit http://blog.gestreift.net/2017/02/kopano-files-und-owncloud/ and http://blog.gestreift.net/2017/04/dokumente-managen-mit-agorum-und-kopano/
