How about a quick story?
The Church of God, Cleveland, TN (@COGHQ) tweeted a story about snake handling. One of their followers stated "I can't imagine why you tweed this article." To which I responded, "@You_dont_need_her_name @COGHQ why wouldn't it be a good idea to tweet this? It is an interesting topic and intimately connected to cog history."
She then responded, "@baroquon how is it 'intimately connected'?"
Then I spent the next hour writing the blog post I have attached here. However, before I had a chance to send it to her, she tweeted me twice (I got the email notifications), deleted all her tweets in the conversation and then blocked me. So, I thought maybe some of you might like to read this short post about a few people who believed in "taking up serpents." Enjoy.

Randall Stephens is the author of The Fire Spreads,  an excellent book on the development of Southern U.S. Pentecostalism. In this interview he goes back there a bit toward the end, but the bulk is about his new work. I would be interested in any thoughts anyone might have after giving this a listen.

This is a little old and I did not pay much attention to it the first time I heard about it (as a member I received an email detailing the SPS's response to the discussion and criticism about a month ago); but perhaps you folks might find it of interest.
