Write and share your #micropoetry.  You can be as free as you choose. Write Twaiku (Twitter Haiku) or free verse. Write about nature or human nature. Focus just on text or pair it with an image. Just remember, micropoetry is meant to be shared. We urge you to share your work through one of the #WEKY channels via Twitter, Facebook, Google+, or the Web.

#WriteMyCommunity is the 2014 National Day On Writing theme. Write about your community in whatever way that appeals to you: Celebrate your community, write a dream for your community, describe your community, define your community, challenge your community. We hope to see conversations about your school community as well as your geographical community and wherever else you find community. Tweet your thoughts using the #WriteMyCommunity hashtag to join the national conversation and the #WEKY hashtag to join our regional conversation.

Celebrating Writing Eastern Kentucky is a Morehead Writing Project event planned in conjunction with the National Day on Writing sponsored by NCTE and NWP.

We invite writers of all ages to participate both online and in person at the location of one of our partners.

Celebrating Writing Eastern Kentucky will begin with the Fall 2014 Teen Writers Day Out on Thursday, Oct. 16, and wrap up at the 2014 Writing Eastern Kentucky Conference on Saturday, Nov. 8.

Our goals for Celebrating Writing Eastern Kentucky will be to spotlight the writers of Eastern Kentucky and to celebrate writing throughout Eastern Kentucky. Our celebration of writers and writing in Eastern Kentucky will include conversations about writing; creating poetry, fiction, and narratives; and having fun with writing.
