HTTPS - Secure HTTP protocol connections

HTTPS is supported by Obmin File Server and has convenient settings to it. By default HTTPS is disabled to not confuse users with un-trusted certificates in browsers. The server generate a automatic random TLS certificate through the openssl but you can choose your own in the preferences window anytime.

Today I pushed all on GitHub and pre-compiled packages too ( I hope the new version of Obmin Server will be able on very soon.

I know many people asked this feature. Sorry for a delay.

OBMIN Server Extensions manager :) is available in GitHub Master Branch for testing.

So I reworked the Preferences layout Behavior moved to General->Server Mode, Display->Content, Content themes -> Content, Listening Port to Network (I need the space in this category for the future releases ;) and ofc the Extension Manager Button at the bottom of General Page.

Internal Video Encoder - Transcoder Extension (beta)

Eh... I wanted to make some how-to but I made other extension to encode/remux video in the browsers supported formats. Someone from OBMIN users have asked me about this feature...

Now it's supporting auto profile. It's trying to convert your media source to QuickTime MP4 container with h.264 video profile and AAC audio track. Now it's picking only 1st video and audio tracks to the output. h.264 video is most supported now buy devices and software but it has many modifications and profiles. Now if the source video audio tracks is supported the extension just remux that tracks to output container else it's trying to encode them.

What's the extension' features?
Supported containers:
* QuickTime ISO MP4 (mp4, m4v, qt, mj2)
* Audio Video Interleave AVI (avi)
* MPEG-2 Transport Stream (various DVD, Blue-ray Disks , DVB formats like mpg, mpeg, m2t, m2ts, ts, vob...)
* Matroska (mkv)
* native WEBM (webm)
Supported video codecs:
* mpeg-2 video
* mpeg-4 video
* H.264
Supported audio codes:
* mpeg-4 aac
* ac-3 (atsc a/52)
* e-ac-3 (atsc a/52b)
* dts
* mpeg-1 layer 3 (mp3)

* gstreamer1.0-plugins-base-apps
* gstreamer1.0-nice
* gstreamer1.0-libav
* gstreamer1.0-plugins-base
* gstreamer1.0-plugins-good
* gstreamer1.0-plugins-bad
* gstreamer1.0-plugins-ugly

So you can test it and if you need some specific format containers share links (here or via hangouts) of 1 minute samples on GDrive to an example.
