Hi everyone.

I'm planning to begin a Necromunda game using a mix of 2nd Dark Heresy and Only war regiment creation systems.

For the moment I think that home worlds could be:
a) Spire = Highborn.
b) The Hive = Hive world.
c) Underhive = Frontier world.
d) The Sump = Feral world.

I would like to know your opinions and some advice that could be good for this project.

Thanks you.

so a bunch of hectic gangs that use ordered military drills...sorry to be the heel here but ouch...sounds like a new setting that fantasy flight should look into in their warhammer 40k rpg universe

Black Crusade  -

Seeing all of the advanced starting characters like the Plague Marines and the Noise Marines in the "Tome" books makes me want to come up with some kind of Chaos version of the Deathwatch, comprised of advanced Traitor Legion members for some momentous goal that crosses the interests of all of the Ruinous Powers.

Black Crusade  -

Catching up on some Black Crusade, and realizing that all of the other archetypes that appear in the later "Tome" books just reinforces the fantasy I have of running every other 40K RPG and keeping track of anybody that gets corrupted out or disappears mysteriously and populate the Black Crusade game entirely with PCs from other 40K RPGs.

First post was problematic.  If you voted before, please do so again.  Sorry about the confusion.

Trying this a second time.  Slight mishap on the first version of the post.

I'm looking to run a Warhammer 40K RPG game via hangout on air.  I would like Google+'s opinion on which one I should run.  While I'll be recruiting later, right now I'm just looking to see what people would be most interested in.

Thanks for your time, and apologies to anyone that already voted--if you wish to vote again, please do so.

Deathwatch  -

Opinion Time!

If you were playing in a Deathwatch campaign, would the following text in a campaign document make sense?  Is there something I may be way off base about, or may need to change or rethink?

Thanks all!

Legal Resources for the Game:  The GM may use just about any resource from the Warhammer 40000 Roleplay line.  Players should limit their options to what can be found in the following books:

Deathwatch Core Rulebook
Black Crusade Core Rulebook*
Rites of Battle**
First Founding
Honour the Chapter
Emperor's Chosen
Dark Heresy 2nd Edition***
Enemies Within***

Other options may become available as the campaign progresses.

*All traits are defined as per the Black Crusade version of a given trait or ability.  Skills are consolidated into the skills as listed on page 283 of Black Crusade.  Other changes from Black Crusade and Dark Heresy will be noted later in the document.

**Player's may not create their own chapter, and the Kill-Marine advanced specialty is not available.

***Some Inquisitor characters may be allowed, and that will be spelled out later in this section.  In    addition, the resolution system for dice rolls are used from this version of 40000 Roleplay.

Character Creation

Space Marine characters in the campaign use the standard character creation method as detailed in the Deathwatch core rulebook, with the following exceptions:

Skills are consolidated as per page 283 of Black Crusade.  If any advancement tier lists a skill that is part of a consolidated skill as being available, the skill in Black Crusade is available, and if more than one component of the consolidated skill is cheaper than the other component, use the lowest cost.

Since traits are defined by their Black Crusade definitions, Space Marines have +4 to their Unnatural traits, and all Space Marine special abilities due to their physiology function as defined page 49 of Black Crusade.

Inquisitor characters using the Dark Heresy 2nd edition rules follow the rules in that book, with the following exceptions:

The Dark Heresy character gains an additional 13,000 xp to spend.
The character must purchase the Inqusitor elite advance.
The character must belong to Ordo Xenos.

Other Rules Changes

Characters resolve die rolls as outlined in the Dark Heresy 2nd Edition rulebook, including determining the degrees of success or failure.

Skills are defined and consolidated as spelled out in Black Crusade, although Dark Heresy characters should use the skills from that book.

Traits use the definitions outlined in the Black Crusade Core Rulebook.

Errata from Deathwatch is used, unless it is contradicted by another house rule in this document.

Righteous Fury is resolved as per the critical rules spelled out in Black Crusade and Dark Heresy 2nd Edition.

inquisitors should have NEVER been playable characters in any system but trying to transfer from other system to deathwatch makes it complicated so the best thing to do is not make inquisitors a playable specialty in deathwatch

Dark Heresy  -

I have to admit, when the guys on +Grim Dark Podcast were talking about limiting mutant characters in Dark Heresy, I immediately thought of this.

Since I'm usually the one trying to keep people on topic, I'll just say that Wanda would do absolutely nothing to change the mind of any Inquisitor when it comes to either mutants or psykers.

We've just put episode 41 of the Grim Dark Podcast up on our website and on iTunes. To celebrate the recent release of Enemies Within for Dark Heresy 2nd Edition, we've pretty much devoted an episode to it. Along with a review of the book itself, we also talk about the Inquest System in depth. In our career discussion we chat about the Hierophant role - including character builds using options from the new book. Finally we talk about the pros and cons of playing in and running for a small group of players.

Happy listening!

Nice episode!  Agreed that Enemies Within_ is a very good book - looking forward to the sourcebooks for Ordo Xenos & Malleus.

Yes indeed, second the motion for future Schola Progenium & Mind Cleansed Home Worlds.

Regarding Chapter 3 of Enemies Within, I think I would provide a page of the small Home World sidebars for the players during character generation.  Maybe FFG could brainstorm on some out-of-the -box improvements for the situation of player/GM material overlap.  Thing is, WH40k players tend to love the fluff, so it's hard to blame them for reading stuff they shouldn't, unless it's very well delineated as GM-only.  Perhaps trying different color ink in the next book for GM-only material?

Felt to me like the Inquest rules are really intended for veteran Cells who have built up a portfolio of enemies and unfinished business.  My players have plenty of both, and hoping to give them a chance to decide some of their own missions at some point.

I've always liked three players as a minimum (I consider four optimum) - mainly for the interaction-generated energy it provides.  I think having just two players really raises the bar on the players - for that better to have really solid veteran players with ample roleplaying skills.

Has anyone got a good character creator for Dark Heresy second edition? Either web or spreadsheet format.

Dark Heresy - Emperor Preserve Campaign
The Acolytes of Sciscitatio had been dispatched to a planet on the fringe of the sector to recruit a young ganger to the Holy Ordos.  Their search had led them deep into the capitol city's District II which, unsurprisingly, was not as abandoned as they were led to believe.

Full After-Action report filed by Acolyte Intios is attached (unauthorized access is strictly forbidden).

Dark Heresy Hangout On Air Recruiting

I would like to begin my Dark Heresy game on June 1st, which is just under two weeks.

I am looking for 5 players.

I am looking to run 12 sessions for this campaign, give or take a session or two, depending on how stories are developing.

I'm not looking for the first five people, I'm looking for the first five people that have a descent outline of the characters they want to play.

I don't want pages and pages of backstory, but at least a concept, a bit of a hook, and a personality are what I'm looking for.

I don't like using tactical maps or a lot of add on programs in the hangout, not because they aren't great, but because they distract me from GMing the way I want to run things.

For anyone interested in seeing me in action GMing, you can find my Marvel Heroic games on my you tube channel here:

https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCtbwnF55SK6X4YhZZhS0tyw

I am planning on allowing the core rulebook and Enemies Within in the game, and the group's inquisitor will be Ordo Herticus.

The game will be Monday night from 6 pm to 10 pm Central time every week.

Looking forward to hearing from everyone, and thanks!

So far I have maybe two.  If I don't see a little more interest before the weekend, I'll probably stick a pin in it for the time being.

It’s a tough life being an Inquisitor’s Acolyte. Sure, there’s plenty of adventure to be had, but how do you keep track of it all? Any Dark Heresy player will be familiar with the stacks of paper, scribbled out … Continue reading →

While picking up Enemies Within, I also grabbed the four Tomes for Black Crusade and the two Only War books I didn't have yet.  I am already pretty much current on Rogue Trader, and I have to admit, I'm not as concerned about getting all of the Deathwatch books I haven't got up to this point, as I'm much more likely to run the more similar "later" systems at this point, i.e. Black Crusade, Only War, or Dark Heresy 2nd.

I do, however, have SO MUCH reading to do at this point.

Nice, Enemies Within is solid and you acquired it just in time to hear the Grim Dark Podcast's review of it.

At some point, I'm going to get involved with Only War and I'm looking forward to it.

I hear you on the reading...

Finally got the PDF of Enemies Within, and now I'm really kicking myself for not being able to have kept my DH 2nd Campaign going.  That said, I almost feel like I'd have to start over with all of the new options in this book anyway.  Wow its there a lot of new shiny stuff in here, and the Adeptus Soriatas/Sisters of Battle options alone really are a literal game changer, at least in tone.

Hi all. I finally got the "Only War" ruleset for Fantasy Grounds completed and I also spruced up the "Black Crusades" ruleset while I was at it.

I also have the "Deathwatch" rulset almost done aswell.

In a few weeks I plan on doing a few video tutorials on how to use the rulesets.

Only War is finally complete!! And Black Crusade got a make over.
Everyone will have to wait a few more weeks before I can upload these.. but they are done!! Personally. I am really digging the new look of the Black Crusade ruleset! Only War V 1.0 Black Crusade V 4.05
