Is it ironic to post this here? Sure. We like that.

Did I share this invitation here? Students at Project Write in Philly are blogging and they are hoping for an authentic audience. If you have time, read and comment, and let these young writers know their words have found some readers.

Hi! Happy summer to all! I have been reading and following for some time now, and I want to issue an invitation for student collaboration. Through PhilWP, I will be facilitating a journalism summer writing program for middle and high school students from August 6th-August 16th. We will be exploring journalism as a way to “write for change” and to engage in activism, and part of our time together will involve a global online community for adolescents also called Write4Change, where students aim to make an impact through the texts they create and share individually and together. Is anyone else doing anything with students during this same time period? If you are, it would be great to have your students connect to W4C too! Please email me at eplummer@gse.upenn.edu; I would love for our students (and us!) to work together. I am also happy to share more about the camp and/or about W4C. Thanks!

If you are interested, the Write Out project will have its first live hangout tonight to talk about the connections between teachers and park spaces, and the power of mapping. You can view it right at the Write Out website starting at 7 p.m. est. A recorded version will be shared later.
