2017 HEISMAN TROPHY HOME TO OU

Oklahoma quarterback Baker Mayfield was awarded the Heisman Trophy on Saturday night in New York City, beating out Louisville quarterback Lamar Jackson and Stanford running back Bryce Love.

Mayfield entered the voting process as the heavy favorite after he put up the best numbers of his career and led the Sooners to both a Big 12 title and a berth in the College Football Playoff.

His Heisman candidacy has progressed in recent years, as he finished fourth in 2015 and third last year before establishing himself as the top choice in 2017.

Congratulations, Baker! You have made us proud. You are a champion. We wish you the best in the Rose Bowl and in the NFL draft.

BOOMER SOONER! Go OU!

WHAT TODAY'S WIN MEANS TO OKLAHOMA

No. 3 Oklahoma easily dispatched TCU with 17-straight points to open the second half in a 41-17 win over the Horned Frogs.

There’s absolutely no chance the 12-1 Sooners will drop out of the top four in Sunday’s College Football Playoff rankings. It’s just a matter of what seed OU will have and if the Sooners will be heading to the Rose Bowl or Sugar Bowl.

The College Football Playoff is an upcoming 4-team playoff that will determine the 2017 College Football Playoff national championship. It will be played at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Georgia on January 8, 2018, as the culminating game of the 2017-18 bowl season. As part of a three-year rotation, the game will be played between the winners of two semi-final bowl games which will be played on January 1, 2018: the Rose Bowl Game, and the Sugar Bowl. The participants in these two games will be determined following the conclusion of the 2017 regular season.

So, whether our Sooners go to the Sugar Bowl or the Rose Bowl, a win in either means a National Championship playoff, January 8, in Atlanta.

Today's win also means that Oklahoma quarterback Baker Mayfield likely wrapped up a Heisman Trophy, too. Mayfield was 15-23 passing for 243 yards and four touchdowns.

Overall, Oklahoma is finishing strong. We are #1.

Baker Mayfield is alive and well. After two-play suspension, Baker Mayfield comes off bench to crush West Virginia.

The countdown to the West Virginia game can be ticked down now. Rally your support for the young man, our star quarterback and Sooner player, Baker Mayfield.

Show support by wearing all things Mayfield to the game and around Norman and the campus. Bring the Heisman home; let's get back to winning a National Championshio, and let's support Mayfield as an NFL draft pick.

BOOMER SOONER! And right now the most famous Sooner is Baker Mayfield. Let's not turn our support or let him down.

IT CAN HIT THE FAN BOTH WAYS!

Last week, provoked, Baker Mayfield made some gestures that were found to be offensive. In a national press conference, OU stated that Mayfield will not start in the West Virginia game nor be captain.

Can I commentate? While we hold in esteem our star players, they are still barely out of their teens. Mayfield's playing arm was intentionally hit for reasons of harm, and he is a Heisman contender. He was also snubbed in an unbecoming manner by Kansas, on their home field, as as a guest of their University.

I know temper is up among students, alumni, and Sooner fans. They imagine a national championship slipping through their fingers this year, as well a a possible Heisman Trophy.

Lincoln Riley is doing a great job this year, but I believe his coaching staff to be responsible for these sanctions against Mayfield. Like I said, star or not, Mayfield is barely out of his teens. He has pressure on him like few students in American Universities, and he has led OU to victory and is a star celebrity.

As someone who managed stardom at Tribune Entertainment Company, if I had seen my star escalating, I would have managed the situation so that no negative sanctions or negative press or publicity occurred.

Where were our University adults? Why didn't they help Mayfield in this instance, and as pressure is building on his young mind to win a National Championship and Heisman Trophy.

Because of what I've said, I believe it is the University of Oklahoma and its staff who are responsible for anything that negatively happened at the OU-Kansas 2017 game.

If you agree, show your support for Mayfield this weekend. Put yourself in his shoes, as a student, and exuberantly activate support on our campus for him this weekend. Make it a Crimson and Cream Mayfield weekend! Sport our colors, yet sport Baker's number!

Happy Thanksgiving 🦃!

Inside College Football: Few comparisons to Lincoln Riley taking over Oklahoma at 33

There was much hype and speculation surrounding Bob Stoops hasty retirement this year. Upon Stoops resignation, Dallas News reported that Oklahoma would suffer under Lincoln Riley.

Yet, in week 11, OU is #3, according to Sports Illustrated. These are rankings going into the playoffs, at a coaching position that is one of the top 10 coveted college jobs.

So who is Lincoln Riley?

And as only fate can determine, what does the future hold for Oklahoma's top-rated football program?

It was a nail biter! Competitive and exciting.

The Bedlam Series refers to the athletics rivalry between the University of Oklahoma Sooners and the Oklahoma State University Cowboys of the Big 12 Conference.

Saturday marked a historic day in the history of the Bedlam Series between Oklahoma and Oklahoma State. The Sooners' 62-52 win was the highest-scoring game in series history as both teams racked up hundreds of yards of offense. The starting quarterbacks threw for more than 1,000 yards combined, a running back ran for 200-plus yards and four receivers had at least 100 receiving yards.
