Had a wonderful time today at http://creativity.org/. Definitely some great Making activities for ages ~4-6.

Upstairs their current (ever rotating) exhibit was a "Mystery Box" - where you get a flashcard with an idea, and a mystery box of supplies to build with. We built many mysterious things indeed, largely with recycled paper/cardboard/plastics/etc.

Downstairs in the animation studio, you can shape whatever you imagine. In the past it was dogs, or caterpillar --> cocoon --> butterfly, and today it was reindeer...

Hurray for Makers!

Starting the community with a review. I just got my 6 year old a Snap Circuits SC300 electronics kit. In our first half-hour session, we built about 4 simple circuits to control a motor, lamp, or both.

We even tried bridging one of the circuits with a capacitor and saw the lamp slowly dim, and then get brighter when we swapped the capacitor end-for-end.

In short: Tons of fun!
