As a long term resident of London's legendary eccentric's enclave of Mayfair (a secret village tucked away between Oxford Street, Park Lane, Piccadilly and Regent Street) I thought it would be such fun to share the secrets of mayfair with other residents.. Historically home to authors, dandies, royalty, discreet-wealth & secret intrigues. Mayfair manages to combine its international reputation as shopping, dining & clubbing Mecca while retaining the charm of the traditional English village. Living on Mount St (runs between Park Lane & Berkeley Square) I can buy a chop, a rifle, a chateau, Louboutins, quaff oysters & post a letter without going online or leaving my street.
My 4th floor walk-up opposite Mount St Gardens means when writer's block hits I can take a pot of tea or glass of champagne downstairs & sit in the gardens for inspiration or say a quick prayer in the adjacent Gothic magnificence of the Church of The Immaculate Conception, favoured haunt of Oscar Wilde and Evenly Waugh. No wonder Mayfair features in all my books! For anyone else with an interest in Mayfair be it your literal or figurative home. If you have a scoop; a favourite haunt, or a bit of gossip, share it here.
