Many California coastal visitors are beginning to post photos they take along the California Coastal Trail to the new Google Maps.  I am including them in a special circle I've established in order to encourage communication and sharing in support of the development and preservation of coastal access and the Trail.  Coastwalk California loves your photos and your love of the California coast.  Help us build a larger network of coastal activists who want to make sure the coast is always ours to enjoy.   Learn more at www.coastwalk.org.

On January 17th, the Sonoma County Board of Zoning Appeals will be holding a hearing to consider approving a permit to allow the California Department of Parks and Recreation to construct fee collection devices (iron rangers) at 14 coastal parking lots in Sonoma Coast State Park.  Here is a link to Sonoma Coast Surfriders website, where you can download the staff report and a letter to BZA which the group has drafted (http://www.scsurfrider.blogspot.com/2013/01/blog-post.html).

Are any of you using Hangouts for board of director's meetings to reduce travel time and expense? I'm looking to improve our communications, and have encouraged our staff and volunteers to participate in weekly project-focused Hangouts. It takes a bit of hand-holding to introduce each of them to the basics, and is limited to those with newer computers (camera and mic needed), but I think it holds promise.
