How is the planet strike going for u guys?

An idea reserved for those who are bored out of their minds (or all their fleets are destroyed and thus have no other option. XD)

This, ladies and gentlemen, is the Great Corvette War.

Q: Why?
A: The biggest difference between a fleet of corvettes and everything else in your fleet bay is maintenance. No matter how often or how badly you lose, no matter how little resources you have, you can usually hit "bank all" once and assemble, repair, or refit an entire usable fleet. Thanks to this, if you run into someone using weapons or tactics you can't match then you can always adjust your own at the drop of a hat. The best part? You can help your clan doing it! Allow me to explain.

Q: How does this help my clan?
A: The GCW is intended to be held at the same time as Civil War. Thus by encouraging clans in other sectors to join in, weather all your good fleets are destroyed or you just don't wanna risk 'em in the main CW (or you're just bored af) you can still earn some points for yourself, your clan, and your sector. It'll just take a few more battles to earn large amounts. Think of it this way, if all of your fleets are destroyed do you REALLY wanna look at the event reward screen and see "requires event participation" in every box? This way, you can at least qualify for the alliance and sector awards if nothing else.

Q: I've basically beaten the game and may have considered leaving just for that reason. Why bother with this low level kiddie war?
A: Remember back when the game was a challenge? When you were constantly waiting hours or days to build your newest ship or equip that new blueprint you got? In a war like this, your level doesn't mean anything. There's no auto-fvf between 'vette fleets if you want to come out on top. You either WILL be commander of your fleet, or the guy who IS, will. And since all 'vettes have the same speed, better DPS and better armor or shields can be easily trumped by range if you don't know what you're doing, and visa versa. It's a challenge where everyone else will be on equal terms with even the likes of you. The real question is weather you're up for that, or not.

Anyhow, that ends my little event idea. Tell me what you think below.

"Rebel fleet, prepare for interrogation."
"VEGA Overwatch be advised, we are not taking prisoners at this time."
3 minutes later
"Thx for the blueprint suckahs."

I hit a level 75 harvester with a lvl 29 fleet of frigates to see what would happen. I got my ass handed to me... but the chat and the intel was worth the rep time. XD

I don't think it will take all three of us to kill a level 27 VEGA Amada. XD

You wanna talk CLOSE?!? I just went head to head with a cargo fleet three levels over the insa-rep fleet I was using. It came down to the last ship, "the legendary no. 1" of Dark Squadron (the only one of the fleet with fusion thrusters, on account of the fact I do better piloting single ships than fleets. When I eventually phase out my rancors it'll be the one I never scrap.) Of a 5m 2s repair time for any particular fleet, No. 1 was FOUR SECONDS shy of its complete destruction repair. I fucking love this ship.

Here's Red Squadron, which previously I said I would have be all battleships.

I decided instead to make the frontline all cruisers 1.) because I had them on hand and 2.) to defend the battleships at the start of the battle, covering the battleships' forward blind spot. The REAL weird thing I did is that I put rotational thrusters on the cruisers specifically to slow them down. I have level 1 fusion thrusters on the rancors so even without any speed buffs the cruisers get too far ahead at the start of the match for the battleships to provide any support. By putting rotation thrusters on them I can keep the fleet grouped more easily, even if faster ships can still outrun me. Doing this also allows me to split the fleet into three teams, pairing one battleship (for heavy fire support) with one cruiser (to keep anyone trying to approach from a blind spot at bay).

Each battleship has 3 gatling rays and one repeating polaron ray, while 2 of the cruisers have 3 gatling rays and the other has 1 gatling ray with 2... tachyon beams? (I forget and since my ship factory is busy I can't check). Tbh the beams are mostly because I didn't have the blueprint yet when I equipped them and I didn't want to take them off yet.

Works for auto-farming up to level 23-25 cargo fleets. Question: To better prepare for fvf, should I drop the fusion thrusters for lvl 3 rear thrusters and go for a full battleship fleet? Bear in mind I'm using exclusively energy weapons in this fleet, as missiles are handled by gold squadron.

Finally reached the level where I started realizing no one uses cruisers pretty much, at least not high tier players. Here are my plans for reorganizing my fleets.

Light Squadron: It's pretty much always been a fleet of voyager corvettes, mostly because it's always a challenge to take down the next most difficult fleet with them, so it's good for practicing tactics and armor/weapons at little cost (for what little they can hold).

Red Squadron: My original frigate fleet (with one cruiser to tank for them), I'm re-making it for farming and FvF by placing raw firepower above almost everything else. Most players will probably outrange them for sure, but those that don't will be in for a beating.

Gold Squadron: The second Star Wars inspired fleet, Gold Squadron has always been intended to be a "bomber squadron" (true to the original Gold Squadron of Y-wing bombers). Hence using missiles for FvF was a natural decision.

Med bay: This is simultaneously my cargo fleet and... well, med bay. When other ships are injured I swap out one of the ships in Med bay for the broken craft to lower fleet repair time. Med bay also houses both of my pathfinders, simply because they can't be made and I wanted to put them in a fleet.

Thunder Squadron: Originally made as a squadron for testing weapons, it's become my goto "Oh shi-" and "Now you've pissed me off" fleet. It does EVERYTHING, but in all honesty it's poorly equipped and organized, and it's one of the main reasons I'm remaking most of the fleets.

Rogue squadron: A full frigate fleet (no cruiser) designed with spamming down higher level VEGAs when I can't finish them in one blow and intercepting targets close to getting away in mind.

Dark Squadron: My latest "experiment fleet" for testing hulls, weapons, and tactics, it's become by far my most effective fleet despite being insta-rep. It's also become fairly expensive to maintain due to the fact that most weapons I get that can't be researched at the weapons lab are equipped here.
