Hey All!
I work at Bowers Museum in Santa Ana, CA and just found out about this awesome community! Every First Thursday of the month we host an event called Thirsty First Thursdays, an after hours happy hour social event at the Museum. Each month is a different theme that focuses on one of our exhibitions. I was wondering if anyone could give me a little more information on hosting a #drinkingaboutmuseums . It seems pretty straight forward, but just want to get all the details before proposing hosting an event at the museum within part of our Thirsty Thursday program. Any information is appreciated!

Join us at our frequent home E's Bar NYC for a special edition of Drinking About Museums NYC! We'll meet on Tuesday April 19, 2016 6:30-8:30PM.

Our special guest this time - everyone's favorite Event Organizer and Wearer of Great Bow Ties, Mr. Neal Stimler. Neal has hosted DAMs events since 2012 and was one of the early regional organizers of Drinking About Museums. Neal is happy to be passing "the next round" on to Drew Radtke, your new host and organizer.

Stop by to help us thank Neal for his work building this community, welcoming newcomers, and somehow knowing everyone's names at the drop of a hat. Neal Stimler, Digital Asset Specialist for the Metropolitan Museum of Art, is a passionate art lover, open access advocate, and tech enthusiast.

From Neal:
"My sincere gratitude to those who participated in #drinkingaboutmuseums #NYC over these last years. I cherish the friendships I have made in this amazing community. I thank our museum and venue partners, especially E's Bar, for their generosity, resources, staff and time in helping us make fantastic events. I will continue to nurture the museum and cultural communities in New York City and abroad in other capacities. Please come out and support Drew Radtke in his efforts with the group! Drew is a kind, caring and welcoming person. He has fun ideas planned for the future of group. Congratulations, Drew! You are going to do great! Heartfelt thanks." - Neal Stimler

Anyone in the group from Buffalo, New York? I currently run a monthly Happy Hour for Albright-Knox Art Gallery staff members, but would love to open it up to other museums located in Western New York. Please let me know if you would be interested in joining us.

I haven't been able to find any current Drinking About Museum events in DC and I'd like to organize/co-organize one. Anyone in the group in DC and want to help/come?!

Please join us for #DrinkingAboutMuseumsHTX on Thursday, February 11th, at 5:30 PM, for a behind-the-scenes tour at Houston Center for Contemporary Craft, followed by drinks at our local bar, Lowbrow.

HCCC's Curatorial Department will be leading a brief tour of the exhibitions while discussing the challenges of working in a small non-collecting arts institution. On this occasion, we have partnered with our friends at HYPA (Houston Young People for the Arts), so please come meet new friends, network, and learn about museums!

What is Drinking About Museums? #DrinkingAboutMuseums is a happy hour and networking event for museum workers to get together and talk about what they do--among other things, of course. It started several years ago in Denver, CO and now has different “chapters” around the world. For a detailed history of the phenomenon, visit https://exhibitdev.wordpress.com/2013/05/26/on-drinking-about-museums/.
