Definitely not mine, but shared via the amsat-bb mailing list: one of the first voice (Codec2 downlink) contacts on the LilacSat-1 satellite

I was wondering if anyone had made a satellite station for reception using one of the many SDR UHF/VHF radios available.

There are also some that transmit at very low power too. As a transmitter they would need a power amp but that is not too expensive to add.

One added advantage would be a way to program a full SDR solution to account for doppler shift when needed. Since this type of system needs a computer, automatic EL/AZ control during a pass would would be easy to add.

My Icom IC-821H lost its TX power on 70cm. Dug into the radio and found that Q43 had failed. Replaced Q43 with an ZXMP6A13F 60 V P channel MOSFET, a little more beefier. I also had some display lights go out. So I upgraded them with some really nice ICE Blue LEDs and came out with an Aqua green back light and a ICE Blue under glow on the radio. Super nice on the eyes.  73!

Found a video with a very short bit at 4:42 where I answer a call. It failed as a satellite QSO but it is nice to find a recording!

One usable pass of the ISS this weekend wasn't in the night. Not too high and chances of buildings/wet plants disturbing the signal. I recorded it with gpredict for frequency correction, aiming by hand on a tripod, FT-857 radio, recording with audacity and decoding with qsstv.
Two partial decodes of the same image, qsstv decided a big noise dip was reason to split it.

Anyone heard the ISS this morning? Couldn't even hear the packet nor the SSTV during the last two passes
