French veteran Stephane Peterhansel won the car crown for his 13th career title at #Dakar2017. Defending champion Peterhansel, who has won the Dakar six times on bikes and now seven times in cars, beat Peugeot team mate and compatriot Sebastien Loeb by five minutes.
“Yesterday, it was decided by a flat tire, and that was probably the turning point in this Dakar,” added the champion, who thanked Peugeot for letting their drivers race without team orders.

Persistent bad weather conditions forced the organizer to neuter the #Dakar2017 further and change the course of stage 7 from La Paz to Uyuni.
Following the cancellation of stage 6 due to weather impact the day before the rest-day has stage 7 - a so called "marathon stage" - also some "re-designing" alterations.
Today's 161 km timed special will mainly take place on sandy terrain, sandwiched between a 400 km ingoing liaison section and another one outgoing 240 km long.
The special has more or less half the distance as usual announced (322km)

Despite rolling with five kilometres remaining of today’s competitive section (Stage 4) between San Salvador de Jujuy, Argentina, and Tupiza, Bolivia, Carlos Sainz and his co-driver Lucas Cruz succeeded in reaching this evening’s overnight bivouac.
Based on accident related condition of car Peugeot team has decided to retire the N°304 PEUGEOT 3008DKR
o-tone Carlos Sainz: “It is obviously devastating to have to retire. We had been running at a good pace since the start of the rally in the PEUGEOT 3008DKR which is a real improvement over last year’s car. I am so disappointed that I won’t be able to reap the benefit of its potential.”
