Hi folks, so we got setup with our very own dedicated meetup group (http://www.meetup.com/Polyglot-Vancouver-Reading-Group-Papers-We-Love-YVR/).

After the up coming meetup, this will stick around for fun archival purposes and all further announcements will happen on the meetup.com site.

So this is the friendly warning.

Just because we're not scheduling meetups through here any more doesn't make it open season for off-topic posts. We're a reading group, and that's it.

This is pretty interesting

Upload a PDF and it will return ten similar papers (by topic, according to their model)

A bit off-topic I know, but I'm amused that the spam about becoming a bi-lingual moderator was successfully emailed to me and notified me on my phone, whereas the actual events and posts never seem to reach me.

Expanding upon object algebras, this paper (http://yanniss.github.io/algebras-ecoop15.pdf) covers streaming APIs in Java 8, Scala, and LINQ (C#/F#). They're able to show some skookum performance improvements, and demonstrate applications.
