So MANY tools! It took many times to get the masking and layers to work for me. I was looking for the "KISS" font a while ago when I found this- Die Nasty. I loved using that. I don't like that the two blacks didn't match. Any suggestions?

I learned a lot this week and enjoyed exploring all the different type tools. The Adobe how to videos under help, has been a life saver this week. The hardest part was coming up with ideas. Here's what I came up with...

I'm late this week, but that's ok. Learning is most important. I love typography, so this week's assignment was great! I enjoyed being able to shape and direct the text. The stroke lesson was great. Solved some of my questions I've had for a long time. The clipping mask feature is great to know about, saves time. Finally, converting things to shapes is great. It opens up more options for processing. I enjoyed this weeks lesson. Good job everyone.

I really learned a lot with this! I would like to learn more about where to place objects as I automatically go to center everything and make things symmetrical. The only way I could think of was to make the two designs into two separate 'cards' so I could put the designs off center.
The font around the heart was challenging because every time I tried to rescale everything the text would change and not fit anymore. It was also challenging to fit everything around the girl on the beach since she was fixed in place and wasn't an object I could move around. This has been really helpful to consider when working with a photo.
I sampled colors from the beach picture so that the sun picture's colors would match. The word sun is made from the color of the sand and the word shine is from the color of the girl's hair. I cropped a part of the sky from the beach picture to make the background of the sun picture.
I'd love any ideas on how to improve anything!

This week was extremely fun! I had a hard time getting everything to seem juuuuuust right, if you know what I mean. I felt like I could always add more. Lol maybe that's just because I was enjoying myself. Everyone's Week 4 illustrations are great! I love being able to see the creativity that everyone has.

I learned quite a bit with this lesson through trial and error. I'm feeling much more comfortable navigating illustrator than before but still have a long way to go. Most importantly though I had fun doing it!

I enjoyed this weeks assignment more than last week. I'm starting to feel more comfortable with the pen and shortcuts. Still need to work on creativity tho! Looking forward to next week- I love what I've seen so far.

This week was definitely challenging but fun! I'm really trying to focus on utilizing design principles to make my artwork look as appealing to the eye as possible. Some ways I did this is by color consistency. I found myself using the eyedropper tool a lot. For example, the plants in my artwork are from the image I inserted, however, with the eyedropper tool, I was able to select the color of the plants and utilize it in my text. The entire bookshelf drawing consisted of utilizing the rectangle tool and just playing around with it. As for the text, I use the type on path tool and add set different spacing between different words to make it flow better.

I installed many different typography fonts I found online. There are so many cool and interesting fonts available (such as the garden/vine-like font) to fit any artwork.

Please feel free to share your thoughts! Have a great week!

This was a fun project. I created this close up of a sunflower by using 1 shape for the petals and leaves, then cloning and manipulating to get the different sizes and orientations. I like how it looks like cut paper.
