Other than ooznest can any one else recommend any UK based suppliers where I could get an ox kit or all the parts for the build as sadly they have a 6 week lead time at the moment and I'm impatient and want to get building?
hey ! I'm having an issue with my Kress 1050 spindle on my OX. The spindle auto-switch off when i run a job. Looks like it can't draw enough power, but i'm just cutting into some 3mm MDF...
Any help would be appreciated ! cheers !

Checking here and the Openbuilds group. We're in the final stretch of buying things for our Black Friday C-Beam XL machine for our FIRST FTC Robotics Team. Last items to buy are a TinyG controller, a router/spindle, and some bits (& collets if needed). Looking for some opinions though. Budget wise, we're likely looking at using a Dewalt DW618M. Home Depot has them on sale for about $120. But, is there a compelling reason/justification to shift to an 800W spindle+inverter? The cost difference is pretty big ($370@SMW3D vs $120) which would buy a lot of bits and aluminum stock. I'm not sure how different the runout and/or usability is for the wood router vs spindle.
Any recommendations on alternate suppliers (and suppliers for inexpensive aluminum cutting bits).

Just curious on the max feedrates for T6061 Alu (1/8" 3 flute high helix endmill). Ox is pretty standard with the 20x60 X-axis epoxied together and double belts. Spindle is a 0.8kW VFD controlled spindle (24,000rpm). Speeds and feeds calc puts out numbers but I would imagine that the overall strength of the machine would limit the feedrate.

Guys, curious on how one determines the polarity for each wire on the stepper motors. I can determine the pairs by touching pairs together until you encounter resistance while turning the stepper. What I don't understand is how to determine the polarity of each wire in the pair.
What is your technique?

Here is a useful wall chart of various CNC bits and the recommended feed rates. From AXYZ Automation in Burlington, Ontario, Canada (They make some beautiful CNC routers)
