"Smoke On the Water"  Harbor Island, Grand Haven, Michigan.
Another shot from Harbor Island.  This one was from just before sunrise.  A light fog settled over the cold water and made for a nice focal point.  The awesome sky certainly didn't hurt either.
Still need prayers and positive thoughts for my dog's surgery on Friday!

Doesn't look too much HDR - that's the way I like them these days.

The ice formations on our lighthouse have been pretty incredible. With the water partially frozen, I was able to hike out a bit more to get a closer look. I really thought that turning it into b&w brought out the detail in the ice.

Had a little time to get out on the lake! I suggest trying it if you haven't been.  Crack was pretty big, other small ones where around as well.

"Choices"  Kruse Park, Muskegon, Michigan.
The Muskegon Camera Club had a challenge a while back featuring paths and walkways.  I have a few shots left over that I didn't use, so I thought I'd share them with you.  This is the boardwalk at Kruse Park.  I like how the paths not only went left and right, but also up and down.  That along with the moody sky make a pretty nice photo.

"Ice Light" Pere Marquette Park, Muskegon, Michigan.
I was out shooting most of the day yesterday (Saturday) and pretty much got skunked.  I went back out at sunset and again was not disappointed by Lake Michigan.  This is the shot that appeared on the WZZM weather segment also.

"Twice As Nice"  Pere Marquette Park, Muskegon, Michigan.
It's getting nice outside!  Well, not this nice.  This is another beautiful sunset from late last spring at the beach.  Really looking forward to the warm up this week.  Too bad I'll be stuck at work during the day, but I might be able to catch a sunset or two.  Fingers crossed!

"Diamond Light" Harbor Island, Grand Haven, Michigan.
Another photo from the Harbor Island shoot. Luckily, the wind was calm and the reflections in the river were pretty nice. I thought the symmetry of this scene worked well. Hope you like it!

"Harbor Island Sunrise"  Harbor Island, Grand Haven, Michigan.
Made it back out this morning to capture a few shots while the weather was good.  Went back out to Harbor Island and caught the sunrise over the railroad bridge and the river.

"Timber"  Harbor Island, Grand Haven, Michigan.
Haven't been out in a while since I've been taking care of my sick greyhound.  A friend of mine called the other day and asked if I wanted to head out early and catch  a sun rise on Harbor Island, so I said sure.  Well the sun rose but the clouds had other ideas.  I've been wanting to work on my black and white stuff for a while and todays sky provided the perfect opportunity.  I found this pile of timbers in a city lot.  It was surrounded by giant puddles, perfect for reflections.  Thought this particular scene was the best of them today.  Good to be back in the saddle, I just wish my dog was doing better.  Prayers and positive thoughts are greatly appreciated.  Hope you like the shot.

"Sunset Break Up" Muskegon Channel, Muskegon, Michigan.
I thought the ice breaking up in the channel created a spectacular foreground for another amazing Michigan sunset.  The little reflecting pools scattered among the huge blocks of ice was pretty dramatic.

"Island Dreaming" In the air, Somewhere south of Florida.
Finally, somewhere with no snow in the forecast! to sure what island this is, but took the picture out the plane window in the way to St. Lucia. I'm guessing one of the Bahamas or Caicos islands. I'm pretty sure, with a little luck, I could find a beach here that suits me. How about you?

"Industry" CWC Textron plant, Muskegon, Michigan.
Something a little different tonight.  I've been wanting to use my neutral density filters, and with our distinct lack of waterfalls, or any open water for that matter, I had to find new subjects.  I thought the smokestack at CWC was a good candidate.  You can really see the movement in the smoke from the longer exposure afforded by the filter.  Kind of captures the essence of a "thriving" industry.
